Rolling meth lab busted on Rolling Acres Rd.

Whoops, NOT busted in The Villages. Busted on Rolling Acres drive but I heard this just now on channel six news and I hope I am reporting it accurately.

Two men, one from The Villages, were arrested at a traffic stop and charged with having a "rolling meth lab" in their vehicle. I THINK this man lives with his mother on Palo Alto drive. The man himself is 58.

See below this article I found online.

And this one too,

how do you put a meth lab in a car...thinking it must be a van but the smell would be horrific...and the heat to cook the meth is even more scary...thanks for the post GG keep us posted..

Here's a link to an article about it.

Kudos to LCSO (Lake sheriff) for having officers on the ball to spot this one. Cooking in a Gatorade bottle...wow.

Wasn't there a meth lab last year in someone's attic?

buggyone 10-05-2013 08:20 AM

According to the articles, the traffic stop was made on Rolling Acres Road - so it was not on Villages property. It was in Lady Lake!

I wonder who they sell to in the area? Obviously, none of the groups in front of me playing golf have ever taken "speed".

manaboutown 10-05-2013 08:46 AM

One's name is Verticelli. I thought that was the name of a pasta so I looked it up. The pasta is Vermicelli.

These guys look like they have done their share of crystal meth.

I think there are some very unsavory characters moving into TV. We see people all the time who don't look like they belong here, but it's a perfect place for criminal activity - quiet neighborhoods, older residents, not much police presence off the main roads into the back roads, lots of houses rented out year round. I have reclusive neighbors who are seasonal and quite frankly if someone was using their home in the summer I would never know about it or whether they should be there. The rest of us talk and communicate with each other, but not them.

From what I understand, a meth lab smells like strong ammonia. If you smelled that coming from a neighbor home, call the sheriff.

Talk to neighbors. Get to know them. If there is constant foot traffic or car traffic at a house at odd hours, get suspicious. Let someone know.

This is our community. Get proactive.

Patty55 10-05-2013 10:04 AM

I once knew a guy who wrapped SPAM in tin foil and cooked it on the manifold of his pickup. Maybe you can cook crack like that-y'think?

graciegirl 10-05-2013 10:16 AM

Two meth labs connected with The Villages. Nicely busted. Many thanks, officers.

Wish people would only take in their NICE kids.

Hi gomoho: First the guy arrested may have been an adult child but at 58 he was no kid. Secondly given the bad economy, disabilities, divorces, etc there are many legitimate reasons why adult children live with their parents.
Third, I suspect that neither the parents nor their adult children cherish the arrangement but if you can't rely on family then who you gonna call where gonna go? Third adult children with college decrees are out of work with the middle class disappearing quickly. So unless this economy gets going again there are going to be more adult children living with their parents

Personal Best Regards:

You say "tomato," I say he is more likely a parasitic, low-life bum.

I would suggest anyone using Bill's Lawn Care, find a new service.

The picture is just a reminder to those that think this guy operated outside of the Villages because he was caught on Rolling Acres Rd........chilout

A recurring problem in 55 and over retirement communities which allow it is the return of "problem" adult children to reside with their folks. Some of these adult children are just out of drug rehabs or convicted felons out of prison and commit the crimes themselves. Others invite in criminals who commit crimes in these communities. This happened a few years ago, the first murder in The Villages. Villages killer is youngest inmate on Florida's death row - Orlando Sentinel

Many meth labs around the country are found in rented homes. "Cookers" might find a locale such as The Villages, which has its share of absentee landlords and is relatively remote from well equipped urban law enforcement, ideal. It is important to observe and monitor what is happening in one's neighborhood and report any suspicious activity.

I wonder if the police searched the house for illegal drugs, etc? If anything was found, would the mother be liable or charged too?

Right on target. I thought we were discouraged from posting any negativity with regard to life in THE VILLAGES?
Go figure, right??? Here I went and deleted all my negativity re all the sex offenders, etc.

Good post Karron.

Thanks for supplying the above hyperlink. Well, that's a shocker.
Wonder if realtors have to divulge to a potential home buyer that a murder has been committed in a certain home......such as the one in THE VILLAGE OF SPRINGDALE????

Don't you remember the first season or so of BREAKING BAD when Walter White and Jesse were "cooking" in a camper type vehicle? Out in the desert.

A few years ago I went to a continuing education class for real estate brokers in Albuquerque, NM - coincidentally Breaking Bad country. The instructor told us to take a can a spray starch and spray it on walls as we went through a house. The starch turning purple would indicate the presence of Meth. I do not know if this is true, but...http://www.forensic-applications.com...cognition.html

That's a good hint. I would imagine it would be necessary in the cities, etc. but even probably in the "burbs".....

I have read that families who unknowingly move into former "meth" homes (with their young children) are truly entering a danger zone without realizing it......as the residue of the chemicals can trigger health problems in the young......

Also, in the cities, in apartment dwellings.......children who live in a totally different apartment than where the meth is being produced....can be at risk.

I'm still wondering if a realtor has to divulge a "murder" which occurred in a home that one is interested in buying?????????? Not just a death.
But......a murder.

Such a disclosure is likely to vary by state. However, if a prospective buyer asks specific questions regarding murders, suicides, molestations, etc., the realtor must disclose prior knowledge regardless of state laws that mandate seller disclosures.

buggyone 10-05-2013 10:02 PM

That murder took place in 2008. It was not a random killing.

Can anyone think of any other violent crime in The Villages since 2008? The only other one I know of was in 2009 which was a domestic violence with shooting. Anyone else?

They have murders and meth labs in Vermont, why not ask your local realtor?

Not "in The Villages" but right near it in Summerfield??
A group of five or more teens, beginning age 15, 16, 17, 18, etc.
lured another teen to a home where they killed him....
Cut his body up into pieces......burned him in a fire pit/barbecue pit;
disposed of the body parts in pails/containers, etc.

That's pretty gruesome.

The first killer, now 20...a female...was just sentenced to life I think.
The rest will be having individual trials soon.......

I first read of it after it happened.........in the Ocala paper.
I recently read of the first trial.....in the Orlando Sentinel.

Summerfield is very close. Isn't that where Stonecrest is? Or Spruce Creek? One of them connects to The Villages.

These teens drive in cars nowadays.........no problem for them to go where they please........such as to Brownwood as another poster states.
