ROCK MUSIC
I HOPE THERE ARE MORE PEOPLE OUT THERE THAN ME THAT LIKE ROCK MUSIC. I DO NOT MEAN THE OLDER 60'S 70'S BUT THE CURRENT STUFF. I WOULD SURE LIKE TO HEAR THAT ON THE SQUARES EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK? THE KAR GUY
|
Re: ROCK MUSIC
Are you referring to the music that makes no sense???? I have a gym in work and this is what they play - sounds like a lot of screaming to me with non descript words!
|
Re: ROCK MUSIC
NOT THE HARD ROCK HEAD BANGING STUFF. I AM TALKING ABOUT, PUDDLE OF MUD, NIRVANNA, GODSMACK, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, COLDPLAY, BLACK EYED PEAS, MARILYN MANSON, ETC. THATS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT... THE KAR GUY

Re: ROCK MUSIC
Sorry, not me! I'm only in my late 50's and I love the 50's, 60's music. We go to every show at the Savannah Center that Rocky and The Rollers have booked there.
|
Re: ROCK MUSIC
Ewwwweeee Kar Guy - I'm afraid you will be dancing without me. I'm a Parrothead who also loves Jazz, R&B, Oldies and the Standards. (only 62) and husband loves Country Western. Hope you find a dance partner!!! :hot:
|
Kar Guy, You'll Change Your Mind Once...
...you attend a performance of Rocky & The Rollers at Lake Sumter Landing or the Savannah Center.

After that they are at The Savannah with Charlie Thomas' Drifters. Usually have sold out shows. They are at Sumter Landing tonight! Going to take a cart ride down in a short while but a little to warm to stay long. |
Re: ROCK MUSIC
kar guy -would you add Pearl Jam to your list? gotta admit I'm a product of British rock... I 've taken my son's to see the Who, while they take me see Pearl Jam. But to be honest with you I could sit and listen to any band in the Squares regardless of the era they played from! Hopefully that will be my way of life in a year and change!
ps - as a few of you have indicated, this site is 'addictive' and I'm not even there yet... Jan - put me down for a 9 (nobody's perfect!).... |
Re: ROCK MUSIC
YES, I WOULD COUNT PEARL JAM AS ONE OF THOSE I WOULD LISTEN TO. I ENJOY ALL TYPES OF MUSIC (EXCEPT RAP). I JUST PREFER ROCK. IT MAKES ME FEEL AS THOUGH I AM STILL WITH IT. THANKS FOR THE RESPONSES. THE KAR GUY

Re: ROCK MUSIC
Gee, doesn't anyone besides me like Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and that era? ;D Don't worry...I won't pollute the surroundings. I'll keep the volume down. While my best times were with the early 70's rock, I honestly like (almost) all music. I can do without Country Western and Rap. Preference is jazz.

Re: ROCK MUSIC
What ever hapopened to PINK FLOYD ... Any Body Out There?????
I smoked but did not inhale |
Re: ROCK MUSIC
Yup, I'll take Pink Floyd! I inhaled...but only in the 70's.

Re: ROCK MUSIC
bestmickey - I played Led Zep I and II for most of my college years in 1968 - 1972.. I may have mentioned I love british rock (The Who, Kinks, Beatles) so you can crank it up.. Have seen jimi a few times (esp since I was a nyc boy and had access to the East Villages Filmore East)...
|
Re: ROCK MUSIC
You guys are scaring me! I inhaled, dropped a tab, saw the colors and the trails..... In other words, been there, bought the Shirt and STILL like soft music.. please tell me that there are others out there that like soft jazz, and the 50's oldies!
|
Re: ROCK MUSIC
The music choices here are one of the very few disappointments. Although I enjoy all types of music and attend the squares regularly, my tastes really run to hard rock and blues, ie, AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Van Halen, etc. So, I agree, more rock. As more boomers move here I think the music will change with it. I can't even listen to 640 radio. I mean, that's the music of my parents!

Re: ROCK MUSIC
darby/opbob/osh - dont worry... hopefully when I get there the Squares will be revisiting Woodstock!!! The thing that pleases me is when I visited TV last April, I was tapping my feet to all the different kinds of music I heard in the Squares... it's a beautiful thing!
|
Re: ROCK MUSIC
AHHHHHHHHH WOODSTOCK.......!!!!!
|
Re: ROCK MUSIC
darby - was there in '69 as a sophmore in college, only to go with my 2 son's (17 at the time (twins)) to Woodstock II in '94(?)... a gluton for punishment (and some good music and mud fights).

Re: ROCK MUSIC
Looks like you rock music lovers have been heard loud and clear. Did anyone read the Daily Sun this week where the Rec Dept is aware of the changing music taste and intend to bring in different music? Guess there is room for everyone and with two soon to be three squares there are plenty of nights to switch up the music.
|
Re: ROCK MUSIC
Were on the road to Woodstock when the VW bus broke down and my friends and I had to hitchhike back home. I'm still traumatized!!!!! boooooohooooooo :( :'(
But I got over it...Tiedyed something, went back to the commune and smoked some righteous something or other.... |
Re: ROCK MUSIC
We're planning to move to TV this year and I'm glad to hear that there are some people who like to hear a variety of music. I just turned 54 and was concerned that I'd get tired of hearing 50s and 60s music all the time. I love all types of music, except most rap. I love to dance and look forward to going to the squares at night.
|
Re: ROCK MUSIC
USED TO SMOKE????? ME TOO; I'M VERY 'USED'TO IT.
|
Re: ROCK MUSIC
RAP!!!!!! That's the last three letters of "CRAP"!!!
|
Re: ROCK MUSIC
'Genesis' is passing thru Buffalo this Saturday..... original lineup with Phil Collins (no Peter Gabriel).. will be there after a few pints of Guiness at the local Irish Pub next to the 'bank' (HSBC Arena).. I'll see if they wanna come down to Sumter in a few years!
|
Re: ROCK MUSIC
Wolf Man Jack era. Loved that guy. Was returning home on i-state with top down last night. 90 minute ride with ZZ Tops Greatest Hits blasting. Now if I could just throw Free Bird in there. I don't remember Joplin or Hendrix. heh heh

Re: ROCK MUSIC
Sorry, I know this is a topic change (I'll take 30 lashes). But, I think this may be the best thread to ask the question.
Anyone know where I can get my golf cart a tie-dye paint job (that is, when I get to TV in '08)? ;D |
Re: ROCK MUSIC
best - sorry.. I'm not that 'groovy'.... maybe inquire at local Cart retailers.. maybe 'rballruss' knows of something - I believe he does golf cart 'window screens'...

Re: ROCK MUSIC
Too bad I don't subscribe to XM. Should though since we live in BFE all the hills cancel any decent radio signals. Actually listen to everything across the band. When I'm alone it's loud rock'n stuff. Then when my wife is with me it gets toned down to Yanni, Enya, classical, and there's also a Sarah somebody.

XM is available thru your computer on AOL, which is free now. Not sure if all the stations are there or not, but you can listen to some for sure. |
Re: ROCK MUSIC
Born in Bklyn, raised in Baltimore & Bowie, MD, back to Bklyn as a teenager. Now a Staten Islander.
Are the topic cops gonna get us? :cop: I like rock too! (there, it's a legit post now) My wife and I were talking about how the stuff from TV radio station was a little older than us, and how it wouldn't be but a few years and the Stones or the Dead would be played poolside and through town! :) |
Re: ROCK MUSIC
I'm not much for rock so I am one that enjoys the more mellow music of the 60's and 70's. I really enjoy barbershop quartet singing. For those of you who have not hear of www.live365.com internet radio, they have hundreds (they claim 10,000) radio stations. They have about every type of genre that you can imagine - including rock and roll. They have baroque, jazz, easy listening, acid rock, German, opera, Southeran Gospel, comedy, piano, etc. Check it out. It's FREE.

Re: ROCK MUSIC
I like country night and oldies night on the square. Rap is crap as someone else posted. Not even music. I can take the swing era. Some good soft music. Elvis over the Beatles. Beachboys any day. A lot of Kingston trio and some Simon and Garfunkel. Neil Diamond and Johnny Mathis when I am in the mood. Tijuana Barass when I need background - like now. WCBS in NY on the way to work in NJ.
|
Re: ROCK MUSIC
Cheers for Wolf Man Jack....Oldies of the 50's were the "best of times" ...Beach Boy's were the best but I will admit I liked the INK SPOTS and " SOMEONES ROCKING MY DREAMBOAT"
