Default Workaround to Morse's Concrete Curtain
I have come up with a potential plan to share with you if you’re willing to put the time into it. Here it is:

Go to google earth (or whatever mapping software you have) and type in this address “Bowersox Dr. Lady Lake, FL”.

To the left of Bowersox Dr. is an empty lot that is an unpaved street continuance of Bowersox under the control of the town of Lady Lake. To the left of that you will see a rather large (24 acre) lot and residence that is owned by Mr. Ron Brown, the original owner of much of the land around here. And then to the left of that is Lowes.

Now before I say anything else, do not, repeat, DO NOT starting using this entrance because you’ll be trespassing across his residential property and he is the last person you want to pi$$ of at this point. Remember he was instrumental in getting approval for a paved path through the new HarborChase complex and across his commercial property.

Instead work with Elaine Dreidame of the POA to get a meeting with HarborChase of Villages Crossing. The objective would be to see if Mr. Brown would be willing to allow temporary golf cart access through the lower part of his property until the wall issue is somehow resolved.

Remember the Mr. Brown sold the land to Harbor Chase and worked with them to get a paved path approved by the town. So if Gary Morse built the Concrete Curtain to put the screws them, this might be a great way to stick him back.

Also, from the information in the Lady Lake Land Records, it appears that this little plot of land next to Bowersox is not part of Orange Blossoms Hills and is therefore not subject to their deed restrictions that might otherwise preclude using this property for a cart path.

Comments and discussions are encouraged but please keep this thread limited to discussing this potential workaround and not the wall itself.

EdV a man who I judge to be a smart man after reading hundreds of this post and Mr. Ron Brown who I have spoke with, I judge to be super nice person between the two I think the Stonecrest residents have a way to Spanish springs by golf cart.

This was posted back when the Wall went up and before the one way gate was constructed. It looks like this could be a good workaround for Stonecrest residents.

EdV has chosen to go silent, our loss.

I'd like to know, also...what is the purpose of this post?

What is the purpose of the OP's post?

There still would be the issue of Stonecrest residents using the path to get to the bridge crossing 441. Given the developer's adamant position that no non-Villagers are to use the private paths, not sure how this would work.

Redwitch, if you look at the OP's, (I think...) purpose for this post, he's encouraging people to trespass and is advising this is a way to get into The Villages illegally.

TV Mayor's post: "This was posted back when the Wall went up and before the one way gate was constructed. It looks like this could be a good workaround for Stonecrest residents".

I'm not an attorney but I think he may have put his patoot on the line for lawsuits if anyone is injured, arrested, fined, trespassed against since he made the recommendation for this situation. We all know any computer posting or usage is traceable and perhaps the Mayor will be very liable for promoting this situation.

I'm also totally convinced there are trolls doing their work here and they would be just as liable.

Taltarzac725 11-14-2013 11:03 AM

I doubt seriously if something someone said on TOTV could arguably be the basis of a lawsuit for trespass. These people are responsible for their own actions. Of course, lawyers can make an argument for just about anything. There could be a lawsuit on it, but would it get anywhere at all? Interesting question. It will have been 25 years in May 2014 since I graduated from Law School so I am very rusty.

onslowe 11-14-2013 11:09 AM

Curiously detailed recipe for mischief,IMHO. Is 'workaround' a new non-word euphemism for 'criminal activity' like trespass?

Skybo 11-14-2013 11:19 AM

EdV's original post proposed this as a way to "allow temporary golf cart access through the lower part of his property until the wall issue has been resolved."

But the wall issue has been resolved. The gate is up and it's a done deal. So I join with the others in wondering what the point of this thread is.

Driving on public roads in the historical area and Spanish Springs would not be trespassing. The bridge over 441 I daknow. Crossing Mr. Ron Browns property with permission not trespassing.

I think 'Hizzoner' was feeling lonely so he decided to see if his peeps were still paying attention - or maybe he's looking to expand his political empire to include Stonecrest................

And how do you think that big ole insurance policy Mr. Brown would be required to have, since he would be creating a public road and would be open to lawsuits galore, would be paid?

I find it interesting that we as Villagers are all of the sudden concerned about trespassing, when we have been doing just that in order to access Lowe's and beyond. Unless I'm mistaken, wasn't that private property that Villagers have been rolling across for several years to get to Walmart? Just seems a bit hypocritical to use that argument now. I get the gate....MM Paths...bridge....amenity fees....I pay for it....that is a valid argument. But trespassing?

Trespassing is entering anothers property without permission, no matter which residents are doing so. Watch for further restrictions down the road from businesses and private property owners in that area abutting 441.

Anyone looking to buy or who already lives in the Historic Section should be prepared for a correction, to the access they are using at this time, which would bar future use of this private property.

the golf cart path up to lowe's/walmart has been crossed with the expressed permission of the owner, mr. brown...who, btw, went above and beyond the sale of his property to the assisted living facility to insure that the path would be accessible thru their property! thus, I believe, your statement re tresspass/hypocrisy holds no water.

property beyone that to access aldi's is crowwed without permission of the energy company, so there might be tresspass there.

Peachie - do you know something or have access to info that those of us in the historic neighborhoods don't?

Honestly, njbchbum, I do not have information about changes that may happen along the path by 441, but I remember how off-guard people were when the first wall went up. I got the impression that many who bought in the Historic Section were unaware that access to those stores could be changed at any time.

My statement was to make people aware it's bound to happen, sooner or later. Either access to that strip of stores will close or residents will be charged to use the private property to cross there to offset insurance costs and path maintenance. The property owners and businesses, by allowing people unfettered access across their land, are pretty much accepting liability for those travelers.

It's my hope that the residents of the Historic Section are able to make some good decisions now for a change that most likely will occur shortly regarding those private properties.

Uninformed speculation is the worst kind of "stuff" This site is becoming filled with "stuff"

I hope this "stuff" does not cause people to take actions and make decisions that are based on this "stuff"

Remember Villagers, when you enter in through " the gate" , make sure no one "tailgates" through behind you.

what if they are a Villager?

red tail 11-14-2013 02:36 PM

im a villager and I 'tailgate' all the time if I can.

Indydealmaker 11-14-2013 02:44 PM

Tailgating Damages Gate Arms

Tailgating, or the attempt to enter through a gate without using the button or passcard, is what has resulted in much of the damage to the gates. This is a waste of our funds. The sign at the gates clearly warns that the gates close after each car. Be responsible and wait another ten seconds!

That particular gate opens slowly but closes guickly and will definately chew up a cart. Why tailgate in the first place?

Rickg 11-14-2013 06:07 PM

Life is too short to worry about this.

Please don't judge EdV from that post alone. If I remember correctly, he made that post when the wall went up and it was more of an attempt to find a way for Stonecrest residents to get to medical facilities than a way to access TV paths and facilties.

In the past EdV has been a good source of information regarding many aspects of TV despite not living here.,

I agree. He is a wonderful source of correct information about the IRS inquiry. He is fair and very smart and I miss him.

This post is a fraud in my opinion. The author declares he lives in "the village of stonecrest!?#(@ Seems to me that isn't in The Villages or am I confused??

SusanOfWoodbury 11-14-2013 10:26 PM

Solution... Build another bridge over Rt 441 so that StoneCrest can cross the road.
