Subway vs Jersey Mike's

I like both of these sub shops, and I don't really see a huge difference in the quality of the sandwiches. There are now 4 Jersey Mike's stores and about 8 Subways in The Villages area. I think that some will say that Jersey Mike's is way better than Subway. However, I will point out that the Subway footlong is 50 percent larger than the Jersey Mike's regular size, which is only 8 inches long. Both cost about the same price. Is the Jersey Mike's sandwich really worth the same price for 50 percent less food?

Jersey Mike's for me. My wife and I can never agree on the same sub and I don't want to eat an entire subway 12" so that has no draw for me and Jersey Mike's was the first place I found a cheesesteak similar to what I liked back home. Nothing wrong with subway, just not my first choice.

I normally go to Subway and get the footlong. Have one half for lunch and the other for dinner or next day lunch. I went to Jersey Mikes to see what the deal was. Wasn't impressed or unimpressed. Subway is more convenient for me. Also Jersey Mikes bought Subway so should expect similar product.

Jersey Mike's has always sliced to order and the presentation is better to me. Subway only recently started doing the same. Not a big fan of meats and cheeses pre sliced.

Went to a Jersey Mikes once. They cut meats on the spot for my sandwich. 3 meat sandwich. Took too long to make and did not taste better. Get a better sub at WAWA or publix. But Publix order ahead as they are slow too

You may be thinking of Jimmy John's which is owned by the same parent that bought Subway.

I think the answer lies in the cost of ingredients. Specifically how much meat you are getting. The only accurate way to answer this is to order both and weigh the total sandwich and the meat. Please report back to us with the results.

Does that theory apply to a Big Mac vs Whopper? ;)

Subway foot long works best for us. Wife orders the sandwich she wants and I get half. Whoopie! Two people fed with one sandwich.
And when lunch is over I get to rub her feet and give her pedicure.

Subway
pros:
has lots of veggies and sauces to choose from
I think the bread is better...lighter than JM's

cons:
meat is always sliced super thin and they don't put much on your sandwich, same with the cheese you get about 3 tiny rectangles and they seem to meticulously COUNT each slice (lol)
cheeses taste like Kraft singles

Jersey Mike's:
pros:
veggies are generous, large tomato slices
gluten free bread option
pepper relish is yum!
better quality cheeses and meats
has a better selection of meats (cheese steak/chicken)

cons:
more expensive
too much bread vs fillings

I like JJ's "unwich" where you can order any "sandwich" and they wrap it in big lettuce leaves instead of bread. They have good pickles too.

My opinion is that JJ's is better meat and cheese quality vs Subway or Jersey Mike's.

Kinda like PF Chang's chicken lettuce wraps! Interesting, I may try that as I'm trying to minimize breads as much as I can. Not easy!

Publix makes better subs than both with superior ingredients.

Subway vs Jersey Mike's

Jersey Mike's hands down. Fresher, better looking tomatoes, lettuce, onions etc. Subway has seen their better days. I like Jersey Mike's wraps since any of their subs can be made into a wrap. You can chose white or wheat for the wrap.

Agreed. Or just assemble your own. Not difficult, and better than either of the two chains.
