Dogs in Sam's club
 

I saw another dog in Sam's club yesterday. Is there a health department in the area? Why does Sam's allow them I the front door?

Not a service dog? Maybe he's allowed to pick out his choice of dog food.

Over run by dogs
 

I saw a dog in Walmart too in the cart and no it wasn't a service dog. I can't believe I have to put my groceries in the same area as someone's dog has been. I give up on the dog issue. They have taken precedence over humans. If they built villages where no dogs were allowed, I'd pay more to live there. Ok, go ahead and blast me.

Much as I love dogs, I have to agree that they should not be in grocery carts in a store that sells food. When mine was a puppy, I did take him (in a recycle bin!) into Home Depot. He got a load of pats and ear scratches. Who can resist a puppy? (Don't answer that.)

I do not mind dogs outside, on the floor, at restaurants, although we don't take ours because he's too big and way too friendly. But grocery stores? Come on!

I have a friend named Crosby who I would enjoy running into in Sams, or anywhere for that matter. But both Crosby, his folks and me knows that there are rules and you have to pay to be a member. And not wear a fur coat.


Everyone has their little pet peeves. And theories about what is germy. Most doctors would say that unless your immune system is compromised that exposure to germs builds your immunity and helps you ward off most disease. I don't think of dogs as dirty. I think of them as huggable and touchable and loveable.


If everyone viewed the world in the same way, we would not have an opportunity to build the characteristics of patience, forbearance and humor.


I don't own a dog, I just love other peoples and I spend my life cleaning furniture and floors where Mikey sheds. He is our attack cat. The other one(?) isn't worth the food we give him. (Except to us)

How do you know it wasn't a service dog? There are no requirements to uniform a service dog and the establishment can't question whether a dog is a service dog or not. So if the patron says it's a service dog how would you determine that it wasn't?

After living in Europe for a few years, dogs are allowed in restaurants and about anywhere else. One of the only places a dog is not allowed is in a grocery store. Not sure the reasoning, but that's the rules.

You see lots of dogs in restaurants, but never in a grocery store.....

Actually, an establishment CAN ask if it is a service dog AND ask what service the dog does for you. The establishment cannot what your disability is.

As for a little dog riding in a grocery cart - I think that is just as sanitary as having a baby in the cart or a baby sitting on a restaurant table or counter.

Don't know about that. Babies wear diapers and usually some kind of clothing over the diaper. Little dogs sit on their butt holes.

It would be a very small neighborhood!

Of all the reasons many of us dog lovers do not want dogs allowed in all stores, restaurants and grocery stores, is that strangers approach them and even a well-trained dog is unpredictable in crowds, noisy commercial places, etc.

I have seen with our own dogs as they got older, and stiffer and maybe a bit demented like us aging people, they often don't enjoy being held or touched as they used to. An aging dog can become old and crabby just like people.

Possibilities of a dog reacting by biting and tearing into somebody are, to me, the biggest reason to not allow them in these businesses......

"It’s unclear what set off the cane corso breed that ripped into waitress Amy Calandrella’s lip on Sept. 1. When the Van Dyke Cafe server bent down to give a dog a bowl of water, the dog bit her lip. She needed more than 300 stitches and underwent more than seven hours of surgery to repair the wound.

The dog was released to the owner and no citations were given, according to the report by Miami-Dade Animal Services.

The owner of the dog, Teri Guttman Valdes, did not answer her phone Tuesday. Valdes, who lives in Coral Gables, is an attorney who works in labor and employment law and has represented police officers.

Although Lopez, the Books & Books waiter, hasn’t seen any dog vs. server incidents, Books & Books waiter Dan Mitchell said he has been bitten twice.

I've always wished that they had neighborhoods for dog lovers. I can't imagine living in a neighborhoods without dogs. :sad:

There are wipes for the carts.......they can be used on the seats as well.....ie: baby butts, dog butts, messy meat packages, germs, etc, etc.
