Century Link going door to door

There is a guy in a Century Link shirt who is going door to door in Tamarind Grove soliciting business. He is wearing a lanyard with some kind of plastic name tag, but it was turned around and I couldn't read it.

I let my big, mean golden answer the door! I find dogs, even goldens, to be a good judge of character. The man seemed very nice and the dog slimed him to death, so he is probably on the up and up. He had a clipboard. Wanted to sell us a pkg.

Just thought I'd put it out there.

Yeah, always best to be cautious. In The Village of Charlotte, a few weeks ago a Cenrtury Link guy came around and signed up a bunch of folks...he can be quite persuasive and persistant.

I'm very surprised - but must say we love our Centurylink pricing. Each time they've tried to raise it, I threaten to leave them - have paid the same rate for 3 straight years.

Well, this guy wasn't too pushy, especially when I told him we keep Direct TV due to NFL Ticket. Plus he was just petting away on the dog--rubbing his neck, etc.

However, I was home alone...

He signed us up we live in the Village of Fernanda. Tired of losing the Direct TV signal during the rain storms.

Soliciting

He is breaking the rules......there is no soliciting in TV.

The first thing about this that comes to my mind is that there is NO SOLICITING in the villages. The second is that Normally century link does not go door to door. Sounds strange.

That Century Link guy was at my door today too, I did not open the door, just shouted that I was not interested. This is the second time they tried door to door soliciting. I am in Tamarind Grove. Thought about reporting him to powers that be, but everyone has to make a living. He seemed nice, just not interested in getting them or listening to a speech about their packages, I can do that online if I so choose. The only thing that really bothered me with them was I had already refused to use them a few months back and then they try again, that is short of harassment if they try for a third time. Just saying...

We are in Tamarind Grove too. Did they come to your door the first time too?

DebbieB 01-22-2014 05:35 PM

Yes, they knocked on my door the first time. Today was the second time they did it.

This whole "no soliciting " thing seems to be un-enforceable.

Is there indeed a "No Soliciting" rule? Who made this "rule"?

The agent was just trying to make an honest living offering a service many might find attractive.

Annoying maybe, but doubtful it is illegal.

I, the OP, only posted this because people have been getting their doors kicked in. I have no idea if door-to-door soliciting is allowed in TV, and said nothing about that in the post.

We're supposed to be watching for unusual occurrences in the 'hood, and this to me was unusual. We rarely have anyone come to the door soliciting since the guy driving around in the black truck with palm trees sticking out of the back of it gave up on our street.

We live in Tamarand Grove also, We had a Young Lady from Centurylink come to Our house. I am glad she did. We had Comast and centurylink saved us a bundle over what we paid Comcast.

I would switch if they'll pay may cancellation fees with Direct TV like T-Mobile is now doing. Also tired of losing the signal and they just raised their rates and dropped the Weather Channel.
