Anyone have any comments about September weather in TV?

I've been told that the September weather in The Villages is quite rainy. Anyone have any comments about September weather?

Hurricane season - technically it runs from June thru November, but my experience is that the months of August and September have the most activity and the heaviest rains.

The worst thing about September are the love bugs. They are active the entire month.

Your asking a lot of old people about weather in September. It's February, we don't remember what happened yesterday :beer3:

June-September are our wettest months. However, most of the rain comes in the form of thunderstorms which are quick moving. That means that very few days are complete washouts - just the hour or so if a storm passes through.

I found last years July to have a lot of rainy days. Ususally, around 3:30 PM.

I arrived here on Sept, 10. It rained a lot. We had one week of constant rain in late Sept. Not sure if this is the norm.

Yes there is weather here in Sept.:spoken:

It only rains if you have something planned for outdoors.

Some times it rains. No matter how many times that repeats, it sure beats the **** out of shoveling snow...

Having lived in SE Alaska where 100+ inches of rain per year is the norm, I find FL to be rather dry. It is all relative. If you wait for perfect weather, something (heat, rain, cold, fog, etc) will be wrong.

Looking back I believe that the weather patterns in TV are changeable. I recall about 16 years ago we had an incredible amount of rain in Jan.Feb. Came right after the then District Manager commented in the weekly Pete's Place article something about heralding the arrival of our dry season which would be enjoyed by the seasonal visitors. Article no sooner appeared that we had weeks of almost constant heavy rain. The lakes on the historical side overflowed their banks and went under homes adjacent to Hilltop GC and the water was right up to the edge of US Hwy 27/441. That required the emergency construction of an elevated wooden golf cart path next to the highway. Soon after that, TV started doing a lot of work involving water management and the movement of water to various lakes and ponds. Then in some years there is no rain during the same period. Guess it means that Mother Nature refuses to be predictable. Same thing applies to "hurricane season".

There are a lot of weather records around, choose your own one and check the records of the last 40 years. As already stated, it is Hurricane season and depends on the movement (usually they moving west-north-west from Africa, spinning counter clock wise) of the Hurricane's we'll have more rain for a certain time.

Unlike the weather up north when you can feel a change that indicates Fall is coming, September is still summer -- hot and humid with those -- you know -- showers!

PammyJ 02-27-2014 07:55 PM

August and September are the two most unbearable months in FL. humidity is awful! Afternoon rain doesn't bother me, just make sure you are not out after 2:00. Showers start to develop around then, sometimes a little later.

VT2TV 03-28-2014 08:56 PM

Hot, hot, hot, rainy, rainy, rainy, love bugs, love bugs, love bugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But, you adjust to it all, every thing is a give and take situation The worst part is the love bugs!
