Curious... why only those 2 choices, neither of which are particularly appealing?

I never really got the concept of vacationing in a city. Unless you're going for a specific event, cities are places that you get away from to vacation.

Definitely new city! Sometimes my batteries need recharged and a new city does the trick!

Having been born & raised in "the city" we were always searching for those "country roads" from our teens on to young adulthood......

A two week beach vacation is the nicest thing to look forward to, with long lazy mornings, walks on the beach, kids digging to China in the sand, reading a full bag of books (like JAWS back in the day) while lounging on the beach.......great seafood dinners out......touring around........just relaxing.

At this time in our life, the beaches of Maine or Cape Cod would be our favorites, even if the water is ice cold in August........

Two weeks in a rental house on the beach.........total bliss.

Definitely a new city. I always seek out the best guided tours I can find. Because tour guides know the territory, that helps me to learn more about the city than I could on my own. I really like architecture tours.

But, on my own though, I love to wander and wonder through art museums.

Of course, I have to try to try the local food.

Great question! But I feel strongly both ways. Growing up and spending summers at Jones Beach, I have great memories of body surfing and salt air. Then, we got a summer home on a lake in the Catskills and would spend summers water skiing and boating. Now, the great museums and cultures of other cities attracts me. If I could somehow combine all 3 it would be perfect. Sounds a bit like a cruise can do it all!

I enjoy both types of vacations. For instance, a vacation on a beautiful beach in the Caribbean is so relaxing. But, I also enjoy a vacation to large cities, like, New York, D.C., or Rome, to explore famous landmarks, museums and restaurants.

I like both too, but also like to travel the back roads to see areas that are not so built up with commercial enterprises.

I still have never been to NYC which is a goal.

You will love it....no other city in the world like it!!

Not a beach person. Love cities, so a new city would be my choice. Have never been to Barcelona, Johannesburg or Athens. So, Athens first. Then Barcelona.

However, my first choice would really be camping in Yosemite or river rafting.

My wife and I are retired. Life is a vacation. TV is a vacation. We do like to travel some but are getting tired of flying. We like the seaside but not so much beaches. We like to go to Key West. Mountains are good too. Some cities are good but don't like large crowds. It's all good.

I can't swim ( so I don't like the water) so its a new city for me.
