How old were you when you moved to the villages?....
I am 66 and afraid i waited to long?....first visit was 10years ago...going to rent dec jan this year God willing....i still have the dream!!....

Never to old, do it now and enjoy!!

Are you too old to live where you are now?

Are you at least semi-healthy? We have 90 year olds still golfing. Maybe not the full 9 but happily swinging away. A dear friend in her late 70s still walks 5 miles every day, plays pickleball weekly and golfs at least twice a week. I play bridge with a man in his late 80s. So, too old for what? You're definitely not too old to go out and do.

Age really is a mindset here. If you choose to be old, not be willing to try, not want to do, then TV may be a waste of money. If you want to play, meet new people, go out and do, then TV is your place and your age is irrelevant.

Am I too old to move here now?

The better question is what facts/factors refrain me from moving? Health, finances (i.e trade offs between staying and moving) family situation.

For example I would weigh many factors concerning a move to a new home here such as the pay back expenses, etc given the number of years left based on mortality tables. My kids already told me they have no interest in moving here and would sell my home. So in my situation I intend to keep my home current unless a purchase shows it yields more profit for my estate. This equation of need and want is tricky and more often than not on fall on the side of need because want is too emotional and not a good basis for financial acquistions

Bottom line seems to be Fear of leaving what i know...not just age

Is there an average age that people actually retire at now a days? I am hoping to keep my full time job until I hit 62 in 4 years. If I get pushed out in 2 years so be it. My plan is to go the frog route at that time.

Perfect age! Come where there are many things to keep you active and young. New friends and a safe environment.

55 when we bought (CYV), rented out for 4 years, moved down as snowbirds at 60 due to downsizing - had planned to work until 62. Kind of feel like being downsized was a blessing as we have had 2 extra years of retirement. Now almost 64. At one point flirted with being FROGS, ended up buying a condo up north for summers - happy with our decision.

In future, for which we can TRY to plan, foresee maybe flying back and forth instead of driving, although we are lucky to have kids at our halfway point (about 8-9 hours from TV and 8-9 hours from our summer condo in Ohio). Also, when something happens health-wise to one of us, will probably make a decision to be in one place or another. Which place would depend on lots of factors we can't foresee.

I think the longer you wait, the harder it is. Just takes more effort to make a change with each passing year. Try to figure out what you want and go for it. But remember, if you think you made a poor decision, you can always attempt to reverse it, and maybe make some positive changes while you're at it. We thought we would live in summers with an adult child (apt in the bsmt), but when that didn't work out (due to him going back in the military and selling home) we bought a condo that we are happier in anyway.

Could be that you end up selling a big 2-story house or a house in the country with acreage up north and becoming a frog - maybe you then try renting back north for a summer to decide if you really want to be a snowbird or not. At least you've gotten rid of an unsustainable lifestyle with a house you either cannot or don't want to maintain anymore. Life is about change - you can embrace it or suffer it, sometimes your choice.

The past is the past... live for the future and enjoy life.

You must be jesting or baiting. I will assume you jest.

No matter what age the number on the piece of paper states you are, you will find you will feel much younger and live longer living here in TV.

The longer you wait the older your "number" will be and the cost of buying into TV goes up each year.

I'm 66 and the other day while playing golf, one of the foursome said to me "kid, you're up".

No, you are not too old. Banish the thought!
There are thousands and thousands of people happily living in TV that are older than 66.
Follow your dream.

I first saw TV when I was 61 and wanted to move immediately. It finally happened at 68. 66 is not too old. Moving here requires a good deal of effort, especially for a single person. The sooner the better!!!
IMHO

You may feel younger after you have participated in. Age is mostly a state of mind, in TV.

BTW - How old will you be in 5 years if you don't move? :D
