Free college? Forgive student loans? Big JOKE!!!

Many of us that did get student loans backed by the government somehow viewed we made a commitment. We figured we got the opportunity to get our degrees. And we figured we needed to pay back what was borrowed.

So why does the current generated who made similar loans figure they are in hardship and need to have their obligation forgiven.

BS! They can tough it out just like MOST of us did.

As for free colleges. I will save my keystrokes. There is no thing as a free lunch.

"agree: ....give them their minimum wages, because college degrees are dime a dozen today. A Microsoft certification has more credibility than a liberal arts degree.

Answer: Because socialist (Democrat) politicians tell them that they are entitled to a free ride through college and through life...cradle to grave entitlements.

Tuition to state colleges and universities is a good idea. Books, room and board would not be covered. In return for the free tuition, a mandatory service to America would be excellent payback - sort of like VISTA.

I would back any candidate who felt he same way.

Remember, just saying you are in favor of such a program does not make it automatically happen. The President (Hillary Clinton) can propose it to Congress but cannot set such a program up by herself.

More vote buying BS!

Guest 11-09-2015 03:22 PM

Believe it or not 1/3 of the students who took out government loans did not know they had to pay them back

Let's get rid of all public schools. Why do we give free public education? The largest social program in this country.

If you want the government to pay for your education, join the military and attend college on the G.I. Bill.

And also get VA disability payments for the rest of your life for a missing arm or leg or TBI or PTSD.

What a deal!

Yes, unfortunately, those are risks that one must assume when serving our country. God forbid the you and your liberal friends be required to give something to get something in return.

I believe it, especially when you consider that at least 1/3 of all college students vote Democrat.

Interesting concept and as usual, the progressive plans simply make you argue against things so they can say you did just that.....it is a common plan.

It really sounds great. Sanders put out a plan back in May for free tuition. TOTAL COST 750 BILLION OVER 10 YEARS (a little over 70 Billion per year) 2/3 of that from the Federal Government and 1/3 from the States.

A lot of money.....and he wants to tax Wall St to pay for it. But analysis of the method he suggests is that the income will fall very short of what is needed.

NOTE...he also wants to spend 1 Trillion on infrastructure, also paid by taxing corporation profits; expand social security and give more money for a longer period of time.

Does anyone think that the government would not be "borrowing" from any of these funds for other things ?

I like this kind of things...from Starbucks...

"The coffee chain is celebrating Veterans Day in a big way.

Starbucks isn’t just giving away free coffee for Veterans Day—it’s giving away free college tuition too.

The coffee chain announced on Monday that its employees who are current or former members of the U.S. Armed Forces will now have access to an additional free college tuition benefit that they can extend to a spouse or child.

All Starbucks part-time and full-time employees can already get a free college degree through the company’s “College Achievement Plan,” which fully reimburses workers who earn a bachelor’s degree through Arizona State University’s online offerings. More than 4,000 employees have taken advantage of the plan since it was introduced in June, 2014, Starbucks SBUX -0.70% says."
