Ladies, what's most romantic restaurant?
Katie Belle's show side tables already are taken for Valentine's Day.
I want to take Paula to the most romantic restaurant in The Villages, other than KB. I would be eternally grateful for suggestions. I don't trust the guys to tell me. Thank you. Johnny come too lately. |
Hemingway's at Havana...nice atmosphere, creative, well-presented menu and an excellent drink selection!

Nancy Lopez hands down

Nothing romantic about any restaurant. Go to Fresh Market and purchase the best fresh and partially prepared foods and you prepare the meal. If she helps, there can be romance in the kitchen, too.

Ahh Rubicon! You are very much like my wonderful guy. BUT....a peanut butter sandwich on a park bench with him would be romantic. |

I think Villager Joyce offers the best suggestion. And then Rubicon provides an example.
Mountaineer, you don't have to be a chef. Your loving thoughtfulness and the time you spend will make far more memories than a restaurant can. I like Villager Joyce's idea about Fresh Market. They can help you if you are not at home in the kitchen. If your love likes crab cakes, Fresh Market has two kinds. The more expensive of the two has more crab. They come in frozen and all you have to do is heat them and make or buy a little sauce. -- I use Hellman's mayo, throw in a little creamy horseradish, and a tiny bit of ketchup to make the sauce prettier. Get some salad, figure out a side -- like maybe some little red potatoes with real butter and for dessert....... May I suggest chocolate martinis: 2 parts Godiva chocolate liqueur, 2 parts half and half, one part Grey Goose vodka. (Decent quality ingredients are the key. Godiva and Goose and real half and half.) Shake with ice in a cocktail shaker and strain into a martini glass. You can put a truffle on a cocktail pick for garnish, but my picks are too short for my glasses so that did not work and I had to eat the whole bag of Lindt truffles. (sigh) The point of all this is that no matter what you make for her at home, your chances of a perfect evening are so much better than going to any restaurant in TV and taking a chance of ending up seated next to one of those tables of those who must travel in great herds to the feeding grounds where they make so much noise that you and yours will have to give up on quiet, sweet conversation, wolf down your expensive dinner, and get out of there as fast as possible, and go home anyway. wow...... I sure get carried away sometimes when I post.........and now somebody will probably show up and wanna fight that some other vodka is better than Goose. Oh well..... Boomer |
Yummy, we love chocolate martini's for desert. Good choice!
ps. drizzle/swirl a little chocolate syrup in the glass prior to filling. Adds to the presentation. |
Have you considered a Bed & Breakfast?
[not meant to be a wise ass response---i was thinking outside the bubble] I know the game is over but I like this idea too. Disney's Old Key West Resort You can ride around on all the boats and monorails for free and Pub hop around without buying a pass or going in a theme park. There are many fine restaurants in the resorts. I think it's romantic to see all the little ones excited about all that Disney has. It brings back fond memories. |

I also really like the idea of eating at home in a romantic setting. If the person is right, the occasion will be special. Recently my otherhalf brought in a dozen rather battered red roses, I was thrilled. I kept those suckers alive for about five days before I finally gave up:D. His heart is in the right place and that is all that matters. |
Thanks for the advice, ladies.
I got a 6 p.m. Valentine's Day reservation at Nancy Lopez Country Club Restaurant for the woman who has been my travel guide to 53 countries and 43 states in 11 years. I can't do enough to repay her. As for the other advice about cooking her a meal, I'm a merciful man.. I don't want to kill her, just show her how much I love her. Daily I do the dishes, vacuum the floors and clean the toilets, but I can't cook a lick. If I tried it, you'd be reading her obituary. Again, thanks. I knew the women of The Villages would come through with wise suggestions. We guys are just wise-asses when we talk to each other. Happy Valentine's Day to all of you, and to my super extra special lady! |
