I though I've seen it all

We were @ Spanish Springs yesterday afternoon.

Someone had run an extension cord across the sidewalk from a landscaping outlet and were charging their golf cart.

They had placed 3 chairs over the cord and charger.

Looks like they must do this on a regular basis-they came equipped.

They must think its ok to steal electricity.

tomwed 02-01-2016 06:54 AM

or maybe, their battery was dead---and they were doing the best they could to get the cart home and figured who would care if they took 50 cents worth of electricity from whoever pays that bill

I see nothing wrong with it also.I wish there were more available charge areas.I drove from Sea Breeze to Lopez one morning to golf and had my lights on,I forgot to turn them off and didn't notice they were on while I played golf.I was lucky I had a friend near LSL and got a recharge enough to get home. You can ruin your batteries running them down to far.

And that is why I have a gas cart!

Chatbrat 02-01-2016 07:27 AM

And you see nothing wrong with it, then, why did the community patrol make them remove their cord & charger and who rides around with a charge & a 50' extension card ?

They probably use the cord for saving chairs when they're not charging their cart.

Also, how would you feel if you tripped and fell flat on your face from n extension cord stretched across a sidewalk that runs around the square?

Would it be OK if you're neighbor runs a cord over to the outdoor outlet at your home and charges their cart every night? I think the charging stations are a good idea, but only if you have to pay to use them. Gas cart owners don't get free gas.

I would have no problem with them helping themselves to some free electric. You have to be a great neighbor to have great neighbors. Today's assignment look up the word Karma. Take Care.:icon_wink:

When all was said and done, I would feel quite wealthy.:$:

Charging

Too bad the villages higher ups don't see the need for pay oer charge stations like a electric parking meter. Maybe enough to recover some of the cost.

Taltarzac725 02-01-2016 09:06 AM

Where are the various charging stations in the Villages? I seem to remember seeing something in Sumter Landing?

Chatbrat 02-01-2016 09:08 AM

This was not a charging station is was a waterproof outlet used for lighting it was in a planting area.

Simple Definition of karma from Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary

: the force created by a person's actions that is believed in Hinduism and Buddhism to determine what that person's next life will be like

: the force created by a person's actions that some people believe causes good or bad things to happen to that person

Since I assume you aren't talking about reincarnation, you are probably referring to the second definition. Suggests to me that one should not steal electricity if they want to avoid bad things happening to themselves. My neighbor can have some electricity, and I'm sure he will let me have some of his. Probably nice if we ask each other first, and then not do it every day.

Assignment complete. You take care too.

Stop making excuses for people stealing, even as a way to just get the cart home.

As the o.p. said, who goes around with their weighty charger and 50-ft. extension cord??

And even apart from the electricity and who pays for it at that landscaping outlet, what kind of an arrogant, entitled person would run a cord across a sidewalk that others can trip over and break their skull open?

Anybody who owns an electric cart should be paying the piddlin' amount the cart roadside assistance companies charge monthly, for towing/charge/etc.......OR have a second gas cart at home to tow the electric one home themselves.

But cheapskates and moochers are not going to spend their precious money on that.

What amazes me is how people can't mind their own business...

Seems like some, on here, just want to get their pound of flesh....
