This Is Getting Disgusting

Have you seen the TV ad in North Carolina, placed by the Republican National Committee, asserting that the Democratic candidate for the Senate seat held by Elizabeth Dole is Godless?

The woman, NC state senator Kay Hagan, is a long-time Sunday school teacher and an elder in her Presbyterian church.

An unnamed member of the North Carolina GOP was quoted as saying, "We've got to do whatever we have to to prevent the Democrats from winning and getting 60 seats in the Senate."

This is disgusting. Why would anyone run for office if this is the way their character is going to be assassinated for purely political purposes?

VK

I have to agree with you, what ever happened to running on your record. The character assination on both sides has turned me off to the process.

Why would anyone want to have their family and themselves be picked appart is beyond me?

You are both musing about days and qualities long gone

unfortunately. Just think if Jesus Christ was running for office today.....or almost any other past President....the media + technology = lead the sheeple with the same sensationalism and shame as they are used to watching from their couches every night.

Garbage in....garbage out.

The sad part.....it is most likely never to change back.....

politicians are the bottom of the barrel careers held by bottom of the barrel candidates with bottom of the barrel morals and ethics.....that some how manage to get reelcted by the sheeple. Yes there are some good ones...they are unfortunately in the minority.....

My Aunt lives in Greensboro...she volunteered yesterday to call people for Kay Hogan. She had so many people say this similar thing to her...she was so upset, but so grateful to be able to talk to these people....that she went back again today!!

And whatever happened to separation of church and state....freedom of religion....they should not even bring it up....Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Atheist! Who cares!!

I want someone who is going to run the country....not a church.

I was watching TV and a commercial came on for Suzanne Kosmas where they just trash Tom Feeny's character. At the end of the ad Ms. Kosmas comes on an complains about negitive ads. Doesn't she get the hypocricy? Just unbelievable.

So many of these ads on both sides (do not be so naive to think this is the only add like this :)) I watched an ad in Georgia that would really bother you as well.

Doesnt matter they all suck and I lay the blame at US...the electorate ! Polls and surveys show we respond to this kind of stuff and vote accordingly !

If J.C. had a $600,000,000 budget he could get elected too.

Watched Jay Leno's "Jaywalking" segment a couple of nights ago. The stupidity amongst what I assume will be the electorate is absolutely frightening. No clue about what is going on now or past history.:cus::cus:

The only way the negative ads are going to stop, is for us to quit responding to them. As long as we continue to reward those who use these tactics by voting for them, then they are viewed as an effective way to win an election. Don't let them look you in the eye and tell you, "it's not me, it's this group over here that I have no control of", that's pure nonsense. I for one is sick of it and will not even listen to them. As soon as an ad or speech goes negative I switch channels. And yes there is one side that has made a science out of dirty tricks.

If I had a dollar for every negative, false email I received about Obama, I'd be rich. And I haven't gotten a single one about McCain. Funny how that works. I agree that both sides do it, but the lengths to which the Republicans have stooped this year, is just unbelievable. Sad, really.

You're absolutely right. They even developed a pack mentality.
They started chewing each other to bits. :boxing2:

The negative Obama mail is horrible. This morning I received a few about Michelle Obama. Thank goodness it will be over soon...........or will it?

A few weeks ago I started hitting the Reply to All function and wrote the following:

Please do not send me any emails regarding either candidate if you have not verified the content.
Thank You.

It worked, the negative emails were reduced to a minimum.

Actually we can help stop the negative ads..a few years ago Colorado had a Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell who ran and was elected as a Democrat. After about a year he changed parties... While running for re-election he ran an ad pointing out his opponent was a flip-flopper. This ad really made me mad, it insulted my intelligence, so I called his headquarters....I started out commenting that I had seen this ad and he responded how true that was about the opponent. After he finished I told him I had just one question.....

Didn't Ben Nighthorse Campbell do the biggest flip-flop of all 4 years ago?

There was silence at the other end of the phone...he couldn't say a thing. I said I take that as a yes. And laughed.

I never saw that ad again....We are responsible for allowing this type of ad to work. If we disgree with an ad...call them tell'em what you think.
