Problem at McCallisters

I have a friend who recounted this story to me the other day. He and his wife ordered a baked potato to take home. When they got home they found that under the baked potato was a half eaten potato and a partially opened butter container. They went back with this to show to McCallisters and they received a voucher for a future meal. They then were contacted by the wife of the manager who accused them of trying to rip them off. She told them that they would not honor the voucher and were not welcomed there anymore. I have to believe my friend as he has no reason to lie about this and is not that kind of person. If so I wonder about this women's business acumen. It doesn't make much sense to me why someone would accuse a customer who returned an item that they purchased that they were trying to rip them off.

Something does not "smell" right with this story! Hard to believe any business would do something like.

And over a baked potato? Not exactly surf and turf as far as restaurant cost goes.

i'm wondering how the manager's wife was able to contact a customer.

Sounds like the Manager's wife had better let her husband manage the store. "Freak" story.

Okay, another complaint told by a second party....

Seems weird. How could some one put one single baked potato in a bag and not notice that the bag has a 1/2 baked potato and butter in it ?
This just doesn't sound possible.

We eat at McAlisters once a week. They are exceptional at resolving problems! Their food is terrific and their people are friendly! This story sounds fishy to me.....

People do sometimes get in a hurry and this could possibly occured. Why do people always cast doubt when posters say something the slightest negative about a village eating place. Humans do work there and can make mistakes.

Nasty accusations should come from the horses mouth. These type of stories can do serious harm to a business and the accuser is not available to answer questions. Too much of this on TOTV. True or not , this story will be spread widely.

But this story really relates TWO mistakes on the same transaction. First, the potato stuffed with prior stuffed potato garbage, and second, the way it was handled. I still don't understand what the manager's WIFE has to do with it. Does she also work there? Did she witness the interaction and decide that her husband was treated poorly so she retracted the voucher? Does she have any authority whatsoever to take this action?

I ABSOLUTELY agree !!! in a medical thread, an OP made detrimental comments about certain doctor and their staff...on behalf of a friend who was a patient, supposedly. Just isn't right in my book.

I have known this guy for 10 years and he is not the type of person that would make up a story like this. I was just relaying what I was told.

How did she know their phone number ?

Too much of this story just doesn't seem to fly right. And, I certainly agree that forums like this make it just too easy for anyone to tell a story (even when it is not their story) with the purpose of shooting an arrow at a business.
