Seat Bully

.......since the previous thread was closed for some reason, I'll start another to express this thought and invite any others.

In what may be one of the worst perversions of a Florida law that is currently on the books, the bully who roughed up the woman at Spanish Springs used the phrase "right to stand your ground" in his comment to the arresting officer.

Stand you ground means that you have a right to defend yourself against bodily harm. It does not mean that you decide what you want and then have a right to aggressively and violently take what you want, even if it infringes on the rights and physical safety of another or others.

We know. The guy is just an a--hole, plain & simple.

graciegirl 06-03-2016 07:38 AM

I am wondering what is going through his mind right now. Perhaps he thought it was fine to save seats, even allowed, encouraged? He couldn't think it was fine to take someone's wrist to pull them out of the seat and on purpose or accidently tromp on their foot. Does he push people around at home?

I am wondering what his wife is thinking? If they will continue to go to neighborhood functions and golf groups acting as if it is no big deal.

I wonder if the people who used to work for him or with him would be surprised.....or not?

I wonder if he is surprised and angry at all of the negative comments on here and on the online news or whether he thinks he is still right, screw all of us ?

The simplest explanation usually fits.

Public shaming does work very well so maybe this man will think before he does something like this again.

Anyone that touches a stranger aggressively can feel no shame or embarrassment or guilt. It's ingrained in their personality. Most likely he feels good about what he did but regrets getting caught. He'll lawyer up, plead for mercy and display sorrow for his actions, but he'll never change.

First hats off to you for your fine posting and reminding everyone what happened to this lady. Now then..

The victim in this case her family, friends , and neighbors need to rally around her and encourage her to do the following.

Contact a first class lawyer who has a proven track record in filling a lawsuit against individuals like this man.

He needs to learn a lesson...jail time unlikely..community service again unlikely..probation..most likely...

But the real lesson he needs to learn and the only way is from his Wallet..yes indeed...that's where it will really Hurt.

If any of the above know the victim please encourage her to contact a 1st Class lawyer....now. :plane:

The Villages is to good for people like him. Hope he will move.

His criminal penalty - if it ever reaches a judge - will probably be an anger management class (which will be of no use) and some probation.

A civil suit will not be so kind and will hurt him where it hurts - in the wallet.

With the population of The Villages reaching north of 100,000, there are going to be a few "nuts" out there. However, just north of 98% of residents of TV are "good" people. Fortunately, I haven't come in contact with an over aggressive person like the "seat saver" --two or three "in a hurry and a bit rude people" and I just try to smile at them and go on my merry way.

I still believe if you have a policy everybody should be aware of what it is. That makes sense to me. A couple of small signs on the squares "please no saving seats prior to the start of entertainment. "For everybody's enjoyment"!

In addition, I truly hope that he is trespassed from ALL of our squares!

I have never been in favor of litigation to settle things, but unfortunately I am slowly changing my mind. I have never before lived in an area where so many people are antagonistic and difficult and I agree with the post above which recommends a first class attorney and hit him in the pocket book for his outrageous behavior. The man is a pig. To even think of putting your hands on another person, let alone to yank them out of a chair and then to stomp on her foot (presumably her instep) - it is beyond my comprehension. The very act of deliberately stomping on a person's foot is pure malice, it's the sort of thing children do to each other in the playground, the sort of thing teens do to their siblings when they are fighting. It may be time for this man to take a dementia test.

Along with the first class attorney she needs to see a doctor and have an Xray done on the foot in question.

I agree! Take him to the cleaners and establish a precedent.
