Popular Dog Walker Killed Last Night. Hit-and-run.

Leesburg police are looking for a driver who fled the scene of an accident that claimed the life of a popular dog walker in The Villages.

Lori Dudley, 54, had been riding a motorcycle at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday when the accident occurred at U.S. Hwy. 27 and Tally Road. The occupants of a silver 1997 Saturn fled the scene of the accident. Dudley was transported to Leesburg Regional Medical Center where she later died.

The driver of the vehicle has been described as a Hispanic male. One of the occupants of the Saturn was reportedly apprehended.

Dudley operated Lori Saves the Day Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Service and cared for many pets in The Villages.

Anyone with information on this crash is asked to call Leesburg Police at 352-787-2121or Crimeline.

More than likely so; just a matter of time before the suspect is caught; hopefully by the canine unit (so the dog can get a "workout"). Prayers to the victims family.

I looked at her Facebook page and her last comment was about making the most of life while you have it. I didn't know her but others I know have kind thoughts and wonderful memories of her.

She was only 54.

Hit and run accidents are awful.
No words can begin to help the pain to those who are left missing her but we all wish we could.

The problem is usually one of the following, under the influence, no license or suspended license and or no insurance

most likely all of the above

But could be any race, either sex, or almost any age. It looks like illegal immigrant status does play a role when looking at statistics.

LPD Traffic Homicide Investigators have just arrested and charged Jose Omar Azua, H/M, 33 YOA, with Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Death and Manslaughter-Vehicular Homicide.
Mr Azua turned himself into investigators earlier this afternoon and they are completing booking paperwork at this time. He will later be turned over to the Lake County Jail.
