Another One Bites The Dust
I guess Governor Mark Sanford's name can be scratched from the list of those who might provide renewed leadership to the GOP in 2010 and 2012. If you recall, there was more than a little conversation from the "Republican base" regarding drafting Sanford to run for the White House back when the campaign for the 2008 election was heating up. It will be interesting to see how the Christian right reacts. The movement's leaders were so keen on Sanford during the 2008 presidential cycle—and so unenthusiastic about the rest of the Republican field—that they tried to draft him to run for the White House.
A 2007 New York Times article broke the story on the draft-Sanford movement: "A group of influential Christian conservatives and their allies emerged from a private meeting at a Florida resort this month dissatisfied with the Republican presidential field and uncertain where to turn. The event was a meeting of the Council for National Policy, a secretive club whose few hundred members include Dr. James C. Dobson of Focus on the Family, the Rev. Jerry Falwell of Liberty University and Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform. Although little known outside the conservative movement, the council has become a pivotal stop for Republican presidential primary hopefuls, including George W. Bush on the eve of his 1999 primary campaign." I wonder what Rush, Sean, Ann and Bill will have to ay about this...if anything. |

Dont care and hope nobody else does what the list you supplied say about any of this. This is what happens to BOTH PARTIES so many times. I guess what they say about power being a great turn on is true. It is amazing over the years how many get caught...somebody will find out eventually....Clinton and Edwards thought they were immune because of the loftiness of their stature. It never works...so this guy can join the other governors who drop like flies..at least Spitzer was contibuting to our free enterprise system :) Perhaps Sen Ensign can do lunch with Sanford one day !!! |
As a GOP woman I hope Sanford is afflicted with permanent E.D. I also hope Jenny takes him for everything he has and that his Latin doctor has to support him.

Things happen in Threes.
Who is the next Shooting Star? Imagine a Presedential Candidate just taking off because of the heat in the Kiitchen? Guess the best thing to do is not enter the Kitchen. Some of these GOP's are scary. Does this mean Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity etc. are the best they have??:cus::cus: |

I think I just figured out what ED stands for, and it is not a nice thing !! :) |

Look -- He's just another guy with who can't keep 'it' where it belongs. Not good character to say the least. Thankfully, this came out sooner than later. What I'd be more worried about if I were you is what the idiot we DO have in office is doing to this country, along with his band of thugs in Congress and ACORN. Barnie is up to his old tricks of relaxing rules again at Fannie and Freddie. You know, the thing that kicked off this mess. Just so you know, Drudge and Sean, and Rush, et al will all speak out about this. It's not US against THEM. Americans should join together and get rid of this mess in Washington in 2010 no matter what party. Obama does not want the citizens united. Divided is how we will fall just like all the rest of the Socialist, Fascist, Marxist countries. Know history and you will see what Obama and his ilk have in mind. Is that what you want? |

And all you so high and mighty think it was OK for Bill Clinton. And why didn't you want Hilary to take him for everything he had? And did you wish ED on him? Such a double standard that I just can't waste my time reading anything else on this forum. May I never be dumb enough to open a political forum post again.

Easy question to answer for me ! Great post |
Sanford deserves whatever he gets. Cheating on your family for any reason is inexcusable and I hope he gets taken to the cleaners, not only for betraying his family but for betraying his party as well. He's a dog.

I Wonder How Many Of The 545...
How many of the 545 have skeletons in or out of their closets that most of the American public would find offensive? Seems like there's a new one "outed" every couple of months. Many of the most prominent in the last couple of years have been Republicans, but I don't think for a minute that the peccadilloes of our national leadership are limited only to one political party.
What's scary is that this seems to be the best this country can produce as it's political leadership. Maybe we have to begin to differentiate between their flaws as they become evident. You know--stealing or selling your vote is really bad, but just getting caught with your zipper down or lying on your Congressional expense account is not enough to get too agitated about. I hope it doesn't come to that. |
Nothing like a good scandal to take people's eye off of Obama's shenanigans.
