Racist ?
I was just browsing in the "clean" area where there is a thread concerning joining the political forum: there is a post there that said many bad things about this forum and one of the charges was that it was racist !
Does anyone on either side of our discussions agree with that ? Have we reached the stage here in this country that if you criticize a black man, then you are racist or vice versa ? I have not seen anyone alluding to race...I have seen folks talk about Rev Wright, but then again there was talk in here during the campaign about Sen McCain and his minister ! Must we be so doggone "politically correct" that we worry about the color of anyone's skin ? One time during the campaign I received a PM calling me a racist....and a few times here in public on the board I was called a racist. It does not bother me because there is nothing further from true, but if we need to be so sensitive to the color of a mans skin then we are not making gains in this country....we are, at best, treading water !!! |
It's just one more liberal ploy to silence conservatives. If you can't win an argument in the arena of ideas, which they can't, then just call them a racist, bigot or a homophobe.
It's so typical. |
I replied to that poster and asked her if she felt that way when the negativity was directed at Bush, as did someone else, who asked her to cite the instances of racism she was referring to. His post and mine were removed.
I asked why and was told that our posts were too political, but hers remains. Go figure. This post will probably be removed also. |
What's the "clean" area?? I'm so dumb??? Helpppppp!! :o
|
The Clean area is the New Post area without the Political subscription.
The racist comment was in Tony's post "Don't Forget about the Political". I have yet to see a racist post in the political forum myself. Even I do not post in it often, I at least read everything. |
Thanks, Z, for the explanation. Glad there are guys around her to help us along.... K.

The concept of political correctness is a means to either avoid or not do
what is right. It allows avoidance of issues and speaking the truth. It is intended to be more permissive, more forgiving, more tolerant (of selected subjects).
I personally do not subscribe to anything that excludes doing what is right...no matter what the price. Otherwise one would have occasion to do wrong....eh? Hence the concept of political correctness. It is a reality cop out!! btk |
Social and political correctness are bred in the liberal side of life. It's always been a conundrum to me how the party that touts the philosophy of free speech only applies that rule to what they believe is correct. If they disagree with anyone else s speech they throw a label at you. Bigot, racist, homophobes.
As they say "a good defense is a strong offense". When they have little argument as to what you say, attack. Too many people have become afraid to speak their mind because they're uncomfortable about having a label thrown at them. It's time we stop cowering about how we feel or think, stand up for our thoughts. You have never been a racist in any of your posts. Whoever did that post cannot rebut what you say in any meaningful way, so call you a racist because OB is a black man and you don't like his politics, and see if that puts you down. |
Ignore them! If I had a dime for every slur thrown at me for not buying, mixing and drinking the latte-flavored Kool-Aid, I'd be able to get that Sea Ray 60 Sundancer and the hideaway in Bimini.

If it looks like a duck,,,,
I dared to point out the obvious fact that the political forum was subject to a form of censorship by placing a "speed bump" between the viewers of TOTV and the Political forum. I simply stated a fact. I also made an observation that the number of viewers on the Political forum appears to have gone down ( not a proven fact ). These 2 comments have disturbed a few.... perhaps more than a few. That itself is interesting and open for discussion. (hopefully more of a discussion than..."get over it").
BTW.... whatever happened to Keedy? |

I've been wondering, also, about Keedy. I miss him.

The thread is titled "racist" hence my question....
where does one go to get a "race card"?
I would love to have one because it seems when it is played you are insulated from being one. I think that is pretty convenient...narrow and stupid but convenient. :jester:btk:jester: |
When I grew up, my neighbor hood was multi racial and multi ethnic. We were however of one culture. Relatively poor surviving Americans. We all were proud of our heritages but more proud to be Americans. We saluted the flag, pledged allegiance, lit bon fires, paid taxes and all that stuff. As a result, I grew up to understand that we were all alike for the most part. As long as we were of the same culture, nothing else mattered like race, wealth, heritage, etc. We were All Americans. Albeit poor Americans but Americans. Even those who had a vowel at the end of their name and spoke broken English.
As a result of my upbringing I became a culturalist and I remain one today. I firmly believe that some cultures are better than others and that the Judeo Christian European culture that founded America was the best and produced a Great nation. I do not believe that multi-cultural ism has any place in America. Some people come here and want to remake America into the hell hole that they just escaped from. Go figure. So, when I have been called a racist I have explained my view on the value of different cultures. Those who really care understand and recognize a sincere difference of opinion. Others just say "That's racist." You can never win with that kind. To be a racist is to place a value on a trait that has no value. No intrinsic value exists in being white, black or (enter the color of your choice) To be a culturalist assigns a value to traits that count. Shared values, shared lifestyle and others. You know what I mean. Just some thoughts. Yoda A member of the loyal opposition |
