What would you do?

I was walking behind a couple in Brownwood when they stopped the pick the yellow flowers in front of Riccardo's restaurant. It disturbed me but said nothing. Should I have been disturbed? Should I have said something? What would you do?

Gpsma 06-15-2017 01:47 PM

Ignore it...you aren't the flower police.

Sometimes even good people do things without thinking...and need a reminder.

I would have said something along the lines of... "I realize you may not have thought about it, but if everyone that had walked by these flowers before you had picked a few, there wouldn't have been any left for you to pick...much less for the rest of us to admire"

:agree:

Not your property. Not your fight.

There is always the possibility of initiating a confrontation with a mentally disturbed individual who may become combative, and who might be carrying a deadly weapon.

That is the same reason that it is unwise to exchange offensive gestures with bad drivers.

Chill out and enjoy your retirement.

Good advice. I avoid confrontation as much as possible. It is the librarian training of service to others.

With a little poetic license, I offer this....

The only thing necessary for the triumph of inconsiderate flower picking jerks...is for good people to say nothing.

Trying to remember where those flowers are? Villages developers' property or that of the restaurant?

You can always take a picture of it on your cell phone of the offenders and sent it to the cops.

vintageogauge 06-16-2017 06:55 AM

medical pot, flowers??? They were most likely products of the 60's remembering their youths. Did they seem to be very peaceful?

karostay 06-16-2017 06:55 AM

Perhaps they're master gardeners and were only helping out by deadheading the plants prematurely :ho:

How many did they pick, one or a whole bunch. Anyway, does not really matter how many flowers they picked, just walk on by - takes all kinds!:)

I agree with Carl.

What is or is not our business is mostly dictated by how and sometimes where we are raised.

Taking something, ANYTHING, that is not ours is also dictated by how we are raised.

Figuring out if it is worth protecting by getting involved is a matter of personal taste and values and experiences.

This is a small matter. Ignore it. Let it go. The flowers will grow back.

Sister said there are venial and mortal sins.

Oh no. Another sex scandal in the square post. "Garden gets deflowered in The Villages."
