Kudos to American Legion Post #347, the nations largest American Legion Post. They voted to NOT watch ANY NFL games until this disgusting act of disrespect ceases. I'd like to give a shout-out to the other many organizations, Elks, K of C, Moose, and especially VFW, to follow. Thank you.

I absolutely respect those groups rights to do whatever they want...it is their right.

An expression I have always believed.....said by many over the years in different ways.

When fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.

My addition to that would be accompanied by loss of discussion and a complete loss of respect for honesty and character.

And you won't even feel it. Suddenly you will have lost all the personal freedoms you thought could never be lost.

Thank you. These pseudo patriotic folks with their knee-jerk reactions are not looking at the deeper insult to our Constitution. In a uniquely American appeal to look at the racist brutality displayed against African American men by the police, the players are using the only platform available to them in a quiet and respectful way. That is their right under the First Amendment. To punish them for it, with lies about "disrespect for the military", is shortsighted at best and dangerous at worst.

I DO know that this entire flap is made up of phoney patriotism.

A patriot who really believed what is being said would have objected strongly to the Tea Party desecration, or our President chatting about tv ratings in a moment steeped in tradition to honor our flag.

A patriot would stand up to a lying deceitful President mo matter his political affiliation.

If you wish, I can post hundreds and hundreds of lies told in my Oval Office which you feel okay with, so you are not a patriot, BUT you seem to KNOW emphatically some things so share

I join asking what folks know that about being black, about anything racial.

You know only the demonstrations...you object, as do I, to the street demonstration, and you want to take away this quiet respectful demonstration.

What do you suggest...a letter to the editor ?

Has our President even once asked about the reason ?

I recall, when he began this, his only remark was about the NFL making it a sissy game with their rules on protection. I do know, he has had a grudge since he was crushed by the NFL when trying to compete with them. The new league at that time took his advice and were destroyed

Phony patriotism.
 

Patriotism is the respect and honor for our country we were brought up with. It is ingrained in many of our hearts. I do not understand how anyone can malign this sincere and deep feeling that we have for this land.

My grandparents on my fathers side came from Germany and my grandparents on my mothers side were here for many generations. They both stood when the flag passed by and put their hands over their hearts. We saw honor for our country in school and in church and at scouts. Many of our neighbors and family members served in the military. Some died for this phony love that we cherish.

Everyone that I knew growing up felt the same, and those that I still know continue to feel

Patriotism.

Genuine.
