Golf carts in street

So I’m driving in my car and this woman is driving in the street in her STREET Legal (advertised on rear of cart) golf cart I know it is legal but when there is nobody in sight in the golf cart lane why would you hold up vehicles just because you can? Common sense goes a long way.

joldnol 02-26-2018 02:46 PM

I’ve seen it too

baustgen 02-26-2018 03:55 PM

In a hurry and doesn't want to use the tunnels.

Shambles 02-26-2018 04:13 PM

I think you answered your own questions: "because she can". It amazes me how inconsiderate some people are, especially on the road.

Rickg 02-26-2018 04:35 PM

If it is street legal and it is a street that has a golf cart lane. It is illegal for her to drive in the golf cart lane. She could receive a ticket if driving in the golf cart lane. It’s a licensed vehicle the same as a car In this instance.

capecoralbill 02-26-2018 04:39 PM

what sense does that make, It is a street legal golf cart that is not allowed in the golf cart lane??? There fore it is NOT a golf cart. Simple

I don't think that is true. I know people who have street legal carts and ride on the MMPs when the speed limit on the street is over 30.

Read below starting at paragraph 2

Village Community Development Districts

When new to the villages, there is much to learn. Sometimes things that don't seem to make a lot of sense, actually do - once you understand the "why's" behind the actions.

Clarification

Just a clarification. She can drive on all MMP’s. She cannot drive in the “cart” lane on the street.

Please quote your source. I see licensed golf carts all the time in diamond lanes.

JimD215 02-26-2018 08:14 PM

That’s why I asked. Always see the licensed carts in the cart lane. This is the first time seeing this

Miles42 02-26-2018 09:52 PM

beating another dead horse. There are those here that feel privlilaged to do as they please. I suspect been that way all their lives. not opened to any logical thoughts

I don’t understand the need for a street legal cart. If u have one, please give me a reason why

So you can go places on a road that a golf cart that is not street legal can go.

Everyone who lives here doesn't just stay "in the bubble." [emoji16]

A few Examples:

You can cross RT44 on the south end.
You can take it to the new Lowes on 466a.
If you live in the historic area you can take it to Sam's Club, Home Depot and many other places in those malls. You can cross Rolling Acres to get to all the stores there (you CAN NOT cross 441). You can take it to our periodontist or other doctors on CR100 behind Walmart on 466.

When one has 1 car it makes getting around more convenient when the one car is in use.

Unless I see that somewhere in writing I do no believe that to be true. Just checked with the state on this for my GC and the difference from street legal to golf cart is the street legal cart REQUIRES certain safety features such as wipers, seat belts, property damage and personal injury insurance and a couple other safety items. It can go 25mph vs 20mph not that most GC here can't to that anyway.

You do need it to be initially inspected by the State to confirm the features and pay a few hundred bucks for license and reg like a car.
