What Radio station did you listen to while growing up

I was a radio and tv broadcaster for 45 years. I got my inspiration from KDKA in Pittsburgh. As a teenager I listened to KQV, WAMO, WLS in Chicago and of course WABeatleC in New York.

What stations were your companions during your teen years?

On Long Island we listened to WABC and WINS from NYC. At the time in the 50's WINS was not all-news like it is today, it was top 40 like WABC. In my early 20's I worked for WBLI-FM/WGLI-AM. WGLI-AM no longer exists. The call was taken by an FM in Michigan. As a kid around the house I remember my mom listening to Jack Sterling and Arthur Godfrey on WCBS-AM.

WPRO in Providence, RI. Anyone from RI or CT would remember Salty Brine, I'm sure. He did the "no school" announcements in bad weather.

Wabc

Growing up in the 60s in NW New Jersey, we all listened to WABC -- Herb Oscar Anderson in the morning, Dan Ingram in the afternoon, and Scott Muni at night. Then there was Cousin Brucie, who still broadcasts on Serius/XM. Here's a link to Oldies WABC:

Sure brings back the memories!!

Radio of our youth

Grew up in St. Louis and listened to KXOK and WIL.

Those of us with push-buttons on our car radios had two of them set to local stations WEW and WOKZ.

Both were daytimers and at night, WEW's frequency was used by WABC from New York and WOKZ's by XERF in Mexico, home of Wolfman Jack.

WSAI in Cincinnati. There is no real WKRP in Cincinnati. (But I bet some of you are hearing that theme song now that I mentioned it.)

WOWO for me too, and WLS, Chicago, and one station out of Ball State/Muncie. I do not remember the call letters, but we listened while sun bathing, because they had a DJ who would annouce when it was "time to turn over"..many fun memories!
