Lainai Fan Recommendation

Hello,

We have the builder's standard Lainai fans, Kichler renew patio fan. They are specs at 5717 CFM at the top speed.

Does anyone have anything that moves more air?

Thanks,

Tom

I have found these to be quite sufficient, but if you go to replace, make sure what ever you buy is outdoor rated. Afriend had indoor ones that were mounted in the lanai, and the blades failed, they started to droop due to the humidity. Also, outdoor rated fans will have protection for the motors.
Yopu can probably save some time by just going to Lowe's or Home Depot (or online) and looking at the ratings for fans larger than 52 inches.

Thanks.

Looked on both Lowes and HD; difficult finding the specs on what they sell. Also looked at Hunter Fan and didn't see the specs on air movement. Maybe I will contact them.

Yes, will be sure and get wet rated.

We replaced our fans with Casablanca's with enough pitch to move air--brand does't mean a thing PITCH is a the key factor for ceiling fans

Our living room fan is a 3 bladed fan and it moves mega air--its a custom fan

Is pitch the angle of the blade? Casablanca was bought by Hunter. I contacted them via email. So I'll see what they have to say.

The experts at "Dan's Fan City" will give you the best advice. That's who we used, couldn't be happier, and the price was right.

you can buy outdoor rated blades and different fan brackets--our lanai fans are on 24/7 from May- mid Oct--we bought all our fans online--Hansen Wholesale--

If you go to Lowe’s or Home Depot’s website, look at the product specs for any fan. All have the CFM they move. Even outdoor rated fan blades will drop in the heat. Only difference being outdoor rated fan blades are plastic. Some, not all, outdoor rated fans have weep holes to allow water/moisture to escape a portion of the housing. Point is, it’s unlikely your fan will ever get “wet” on a lanai ceiling.

Look up Minka fans--3 bladed fans are way more efficient--this the brand we use in our living room--none of our other fans come close to its performance- all our other fans are Casablanca & Hunter

I don't think that ceiling fans move the most possible air when they are mounted close to the ceiling. Basically, the air can't get above the fan quick enough to replace the air blown down.

Our lanai fans move only what seems like half the air of our living room fan. The lanai fans are mounted about 10 inches below the 8 foot ceiling, while the living room fan is mounted on a pole about 3 feet below the 12 foot ceiling in our living room.

So....it is possible that even if you get a more powerful fan for your lanai that it really can't move more air than your current one. If you have a high ceiling in your lanai, you might try dropping the fan down as an experiment.

per code minimum blade height for a fan is 7' above the finished floor

Minka fans are FANtastic .. They are generally more expensive than the standard fans found in the big box stores .. For my house in ATlanta I found them at Dan's Fan City .. which I believe is a chain .. If the quality and CFM of Big Box fans don;t fit your needs, check out the nearest to the Villages

You need a wet location fan. The best fan I have found is made by Fanimation. The Xeno fan moves 6,475 cubic feet of air, has a led light and wall switch. An awesome fan priced reasonably. I worked in lighting and fans for 4 years and I have 2 of them. Go to Besco Lighting in Leesburg ask for Jo, tell her Kim sent you.
The fans at Lowes and Home depot are not of the same quality.

That would be my recommendation also.
