One year ago in The Villages. After Irma

I remember like it was yesterday a year ago there were some folks who were very upset over the yard debris not being picked up.

We lived through it. We are here, most of us. The yard debris is not. There is a lesson here somewhere.

I had no damage tied my plants up (copper leafs), made sure there was nothing not tied down. Some neighbors lost shingles and plants. Didn’t even lose power. IMO they done pretty good job overall.

We lost about 20% of our shingles on the east side and had interior water damage. The insurance company, Progressive, was on the ball and promptly paid our claim less the $ 1,000 deductible. The national restoration company that put the blue tarp on I thought was one of the worst from a professional standpoint and I'd never recommend them to anyone. " Gougers " just taking advantage of the situation. The insurance company finally found a roofer for us who was really good. Two roofers we called quoted the repair job but then never showed up to do it. The interior painter was great. Unfortunately the neighbors had to stare at a pile of a thousand pile of shingles in our driveway for about three weeks until the roofer hauled them away. I really do not look forward to a reoccurrence, or something worse.

I use to worry about lightning strikes, sinkholes, tornadoes and hurricanes.

Irma came through last year and I lost a few singles. Put in a claim and the insurance company came out and said I qualified for a new roof. They allowed so much money, the deductible was waived so I got a free roof. Life is good.

I don't worry about anything as it is so destructive to one's health.

I was born to worry. I worry about everything, everything that I worry about never happens because I worry. It's not destructive to my health, I may shake a little and drink a lot but because of worrying nothing ever happens, well worth it.

Living in a tree lined village caused excessive debris and some neighbors were taken advantage by vendors for removal but that is a distant memory now.

Who is your insurance company? It's always nice to hear about good companies.

Thank you, I've never had anyone but myself worry about me, this is going me a very calm feeling. I worried about the hurricane for days now and it went further west and north, my worrying worked again. Now I'm going to worry that we're not getting badly needed rain and hopefully that will bring some soon.
