Cane Garden Price Fix menu

Went to Cane Garden on Tuesday nite for dinner. Saw they had a price fix menu for $11.95. Sounded good and have always liked Cane Garden's food so the four of us ordered from the price fix menu. Boy were we sorry! When we got our entrees I thought we received either Weight Watcher Smart ones or Jenny Craig entrees. And the desert was embarrising. We had no choice of deserts only chocolate mousse. BUT when the desert came we each recieved a tablespoon at best of mousse with 1/2 strawberry and a dollop of whip cream. Evedrything tasted delicious but was terribly small. Will still go to Cane but NEVER order the price fix.

If the food was good

I think they are on the right track. For the past few years we have cut way back on portion size. That plus more exercise has helped in may ways to better our health. I have lost over 60#. Now when we go to a resturaunt we can never come close to finishing the meal it's just too much to eat. That's a good thing in my view.

I wonder is the price much lower than the standard meal? It doesn't sound like it is much less form a cost standpoint. We have done a lot of meal splitting to cut down on porton size but then you both have to want the same thing.

I wish resturaunts would cut way back on portion and add quality instead.

I agree with rag ******. I had dinner there Tuesday and Wednesday night and ordered from the price fixed selection. Came with a decent size salad, a small entree and a very small dessert. Perfect size portions as far as I can see. I did the same thing at TGI Fridays from their 3 course selection and couldn't begin to finish the amount of food. I for one like what they did at Cane Garden.

I'm another who agrees with you. Love to eat out, but hate leaving food on my plate.

I agree. With 2/3 of the USA being obese, portions have gotten way out of control. I hate it when they bring me enough food for 3 people! I would prefer they charge me a little less and give me a lot less food. More and more restaurants are beginning to offer smaller portions, hope this trend continues. Our stomachs are only the size of our fist.

love smaller portions

I love the idea of smaller portions for less money. I can never finish my meal so I never get to order dessert :cryin2:

I don't mind getting less if they learn to cook it better.

I also agree. Most of the time I order appetizers cause I can't eat a full meal anymore. I go to Codys, by the time I get done with the salad, I take the rest home. Next thing I know, I've got 5 take out boxes in the fridge.

My wife and I split meals all the time. Sounds like Cang Garden has the right idea. If you order from the regular menu, do you get larger portions and would it be cheaper to order one of those as opposed to two of the Price Fixed?

Mudder 07-16-2010 11:56 AM

I agree, I'm all for smaller portions. Most of the time we split a meal and a salad, that's perfect for us. We tip as tho we each had a full meal, better to give it to the server than to your body !

Ooh, new Chinese restaurant opened up?:) Just kidding, typo I know.

I like smaller portions as long as the food is good as you mentioned. We'll give it a try.

We ate at Cane Gardens on Wed and we found the portions were fine, they could have kept the desert and taken the cost off the meal, because we nevereat deserts anyway.:clap2:

Travel to anyplace in Europe or Asia, the plates are smaller and so are the portions. They don't believe in the "supersize craze of the USA, and are much healthier.I get sooooooooooo p#ssed off that exercising and eating right doesn't help me whatsoever with my health insurance premiums.I have to pay for all those people who don't give a flying #$%^&* about their poor health and obesity, but that's a soapbox for another day.Name me one other country, besides the USA , that people at the poverty level are obese?

I think that is mostly due to the fact that cheap food is also unhealthy food. But obesity in this country is not limited to those at/near poverty level.
