Villages Hospital
 

Two yrs ago I would not take my dog to the village Hospital, things have sure changed, My husband has been admitted twice in the last month, Great care, He is now in the cardiac unit, and I have received calls from both the Dr. and Nurses, (I cannot go in due to the virus) They are keeping me updated of his condition, All precautions are being taken, to keep him safe. The staff, is awesome, He has a heart condition, with many other complications,Scared for his safety, but they arde assuring me, he is safe. They want to release him, but, his condition is monitored, and are running more test. I just want to thank all the Medical teams, Nurses and Drs. for their concern and vigilance, during these trying times, Thank you to The Village's HOSPITAL, for all you have done for my husband GOD BLESS and STAY SAFE.:

Couldn't have said it better. I think it would be horrible to endure the separation from a spouse in their time of need.

I think the problem lies with the very long wait times in the emergency room.

When I first moved here I made it a point to read about and check out the hospital. Found out that their low rating was due to the emergency room wait times. Why were there wait times so long in emergency room? Because we live in the villages filled with people in their 60s 70s and 80s. Several people that I talked with that actually had to be admitted and stayed said they always got good care.

Exactly! PLUS our hospital also serves all the people. We've used the hospital several times and point of entry is via the ER. Observing families there, young people, workers here in T.V. besides the folks that live here. The care we got, once admitted was very good. We've been there during "high season" and because of the shortage of medical people (which is a national issues) was evident---yet the care still was good!! So happy for the good report by the OP but at the same time sorry they're dealing with this now.

...being very unfamiliar with the area I took her to the Villages hospital late one night

Yes I would have liked to have had her immediately admitted to the ER, but the wait wasn't more than 15 minutes

Not a lot different than what I'd expect if we were still down in Ft Lauderdale, or living back up near Boston

We were impressed with quality of the nursing staff and the visiting doctor who rotates from other area hospitals...it took them very little time to diagnose what the situation was...I suspected it might be a kidney stone, but my wife never had had one before

I have nothing but respect for that hospital

Now, all that said...like another person that responded to this post, I too wouldn't bring my dog there...as I didn't see any water bowls on the floor for doggies and unless your dog's nails have been clipped short they're liable to slip on the tile flooring

ERs across this nation are where the uninsured go for basic healthcare. This isn’t a problem in countries with universal healthcare coverage. Just sayin’.

True, but those countries have about a zillion other problems in healthcare delivery that are much worse

Good to hear! I was in the ER for 5 1/2 hours in July 2018. Could not have been more scared (heart), confused at their nonchalance attitude, lack of communication, lack of attention. Then, after talking to a doctor and nurse, they told my husband and me that that hospital is not your normal hospital. The clientele is not like a ‘normal’ hospital and they are overwhelmed. They both said it needed to be addressed because my experience was THEIR experience EVERY DAY! I’m fine but it’s good to hear that UF has done some changes!
