What could be safer than exective golf

Answer STAYING AT HOME
My wife and I don't want to get the virus . we don't want to die right now
We have been playing executive golf until yesterday. We Where paired with 2 men that where maybe the nicest guys out there.
They were so nice that they got in our face. They were so nice that they gave a fist but to my wife.
Golf needs to limit tee times to 2 people. This will mean cutting down your 2 a day executive golf so that others can also play.

We play exec golf 3x per week - ONLY with people we know that we schedule. EVERYONE we play with knows the rules - distance, don't touch our stuff, and most importantly - NO commentary or laughing out loud when I hit my usual bad shots.

I agree they should but couples out by themselves, twosomes all the way down the line..
BTW,
Were they hitting from the Blacks when they should be hitting from the Green, that's what we used to get when we were only a threesome that lonely guy out of nowhere would join us..... :MOJE_whot:

When that happens, time to explain the social distancing rules that you play under. If my wife and I are paired that is our first discussion with the other folks prior to the first tee. We discuss social distancing, do not touch our ball or clubs and we won't touch yours. If that's an issue for them we will play with them but not be on the tee or the greens at the same time. If an Ambassador says anything we would explain the reason. So far, no issues with anyone we have played with and in fact, all have been in total agreement.

Here’s a controversial opinion...

It is my feeling that the golf courses should be closed. The medical community will soon be overtaxed here and, whether you believe it or not, golf is not essential and you aren’t really social distancing. My kids are in NJ and the tragic statistics happening there will soon be happening here. I don’t understand why they are still open, but hey, that’s just my opinion. Why aren’t we taking this more seriously? I don’t get it. This virus is a lung eater. So before you decide to head out to the “greens” think about what it would be like to be on a ventilator.

Pure opinion

The medical community will soon be overtaxed here

Pure speculation

you aren’t really social distancing.

Yes, we are

in NJ and the tragic statistics happening there will soon be happening here.

More speculation

But thank you for your informative post

I feel the same way. Golf should be closed like everything else.

simple question----WHY?

Don't answer with an opinion, or your paranoia, or that you know somebody who got the virus.

Give me definitive scientifically validated published cases of COVID-19 transmission on a golf course where people are practicing social distancing. Anything short of that is just babbling.

dewilson58 04-07-2020 10:46 AM

I'm a golfer, like the option to play.......but I think the issue is, too many violations of Social Distancing on the golf course. I see it all the time. I see it when I'm not even playing.

My answer is the same as Mr Isolated just gave.

In other words, your objection isn't to the policy and procedures that are keeping the courses open, it is with those who are violating it. Take your argument up with THEM.

And lets not hear the inane argument that the only way to stop them is to shut it all down for the zillionth time---that is akin to shutting down all interstate highways because some drivers are going 100+

Somebody said golf carts provide social distancing just by their size. I disagree with that. The parking slots at the starter shacks are not providing 6 feet distance between carts. In fact, they're barely two feet. We drove by several today (on my way to doctor-ordered x-ray) and the lots were full.

And that is fact, not opinion.

Anne17 04-07-2020 11:19 AM

But what about the single golfers who like to play as much as you do? Do we just say to heck with them? Have a heart. Tell people you are following social distance rules and to please do the same while you are with them. Most people are very willing to social distance if you ask them even if they don't practice it themselves.

Have you not shared a golf cart in the last month??

Have you not been within six feet of another in line to pay for a round of golf??
(the counters are only three feet)

Have you not been within six feet of an Ambassador??

Of course you have.

(remember, there are hundreds of golfers out there......playing and observing)

The truth shall make you free.

You're taking this personal. Not going to argue. Be safe.
