After 7:00 PM play
 

Because of a part time job sometimes I can’t get to a course until 7pm. I have annual trail fees. Last Wednesday (5/20) I drove up to Saddlebrook at 7:02pm. On the 1st tee there were ‘grandpa’, son & daughter-in-law and 4-5 kids ranging from 3-7 each with a club in their hand. I didn’t say anything. I’m not about to confront grandpa, though he obviously had to know better. I left and rolled past again at 7:40p. All of the children were on the 3rd green running around and back & forth to the 2 carts on the path! I called the next day. I knew what the answer would be. ‘Not much we can do after 7pm’. Thoughts ...

I'm not trying to be a wise guy, but the first thought that comes to mind is...don't go there after 7pm

I thought this place was intended to be used by Retired-Senior-Citizens.......

Why not? It’s great to putt out after 9 holes just as the sun sets. :)

I would have just jumped ahead of them. Play a similar hole twice if you wanted to post a score.

This is in regards to Executive courses. Also each kid (over 1 year of age) has to have their own ID.

Just because you don't need a t-tiime after 7 doesn't mean you don't still have to abide by the rules. If your kid can't prove proficiency (meaning - that 2-year old, who probably has no way to hold the club without smacking someone in the knee), then your kid can't play on the course. And if he can't play, he can't be there either, since spectators under 10 aren't allowed.

The Villages Golf CAN do something about it - there are golfers out there after 7, who t-ed off before 7, and the ambassadors are still driving around. They can absolutely ask that the children leave the course.

Old Gramps "should have" known better. I don't really understand how you knew it was a "son and daughter in law" though.

I’m down here visiting the in-laws, my father in law is getting back into golf after a long hiatus and we had booked a tee time at march bend this morning to get him back into it.

When we went to check in we were told that we couldn’t play because guest passes are not allowed on courses right now.there was no mention of it during the automated tee time booking process.

is there an unwritten rule that resident and their guest can play after 7pm without a tee time? Would love to play a few holes with him before we leave, but I don’t want to get him in trouble on his first round...

Executive Golf Updates – UPDATED 05/05/2020

As Golf is an independent sport and continues to remain open, there are several modifications that remain in place to continue to prevent the further spread of COVID-19. Cash is no longer accepted for payment of daily trail fees when playing golf on the Executive Golf Courses. Trail Fees must be paid in advance via telephone with a credit card.
A new temporary monthly flat fee of $ 20.00 per month for Trail Fees is available to accommodate what used to be daily cash trail fee golfers. If you have already paid your 6-month or yearly trail fees, you do not need to make an additional payment.
To pay your Executive Trail Fees over the phone, please call the District Customer Service Center Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at (352) 753-4508 or contact any Regional Recreation Center from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.-

Golf courses are now open for normal operating hours.
Golfers still have the ability to play by walking with a pull cart or carrying their own bag.
Only single riders in golf cars are permitted unless the individuals are cohabitating in the same home.
In addition to the changes in trail fee transactions, guests are temporarily not permitted to golf. Eliminating all money transactions at the Starter Shacks provide for enhanced protection as we all make extra allowances to fight the spread of COVID-19. Please note that this will not impact the ability for residents (owners, non-owners or renters) to play. This only impacts those guests with a Guest ID that normally pay a guest rate to play golf.

This is all part of the COVID-19 District Action Plan. Sorry no one called and asked first.

No. People who jump on the courses without an approved tee time are violating the rules. It is an "entitlement" behavior.

You can't check-in without a starter, and that is a requirement to play any course.

* At the executive courses you must check-in with
the Starter. During check-in you will confirm that your
group is playing at the correct course at the designated
tee time and pay any applicable fees.
* At the championship golf courses you must
report to the golf shop for registration before proceeding
to the Starter.

Then you all would have been rule-breakers, not just Gramps and the tribe.

Thanks for all the replies, I went through the automatic phone system the night before and it was accepting “**” for visitor players, and I didn’t hear any message at the beginning about the restrictions.

We checked in with the starter and that’s when we were told, we did not and never considered trying to sneak onto a course.

We found it pretty funny and counterintuitive that after we got turned away at march bend, the starter suggested we could go down to the Fenney putting greens, where there were plenty of people playing, then the Lopez driving range were we were much closer to others than if we had played a round, and then finished off the day at the neighborhood pool with other villagers around without breaking any rules.

So you went from Marsh Bend, to Fenney, then Lopez? Wow! That’s a lot of miles.
