Best Hot Dogs in TV.

In 2008, Dee Dee’s Hot Dog House opened on Rollings Acres and 441. Unfortunately it closed in less than a year. Nathan’s in Walmart on 466 was another great hot dog experience until Wal-Mart’s refused to renew their lease circa 2010. So that pretty much leaves Toojays, the hot dog truck on 466, and the Home Depot hot dog stand for anyone with a craving for a quick hot dog. Unless of course someone knows of a hidden hot dog option that they’d like to share?

The best hot dogs in The Villages are to be found at anybody in the know who goes to the "Koegels on the Road" events (usually twice a year) and buys Koegels Viennas in Natural Casings and hustles them home and throws them on the grill. This is a Michigan-based processed meat company who is so beloved by native Michiganders (myself included) that they would often pay more for shipping and handling than for the hot dogs themselves to by them by mail. Koegels wised up and started sending semi-trucks down to cities up and down the eastern seaboard to sell them at these events.

Michigan has its faults (the horrendous condition of the roads being WAY up there on the list) but they allegedly have the highest standards for processed meats in the country. Hot dogs made there are just better and Koegels is the best of the best. Now, I am obviously biased, but I've introduced several of our neighbors and friends (who are NOT from Michigan) to them and several of them now buy from the road events and say they are the best hot dogs they've ever tasted.

Now, if you just can't get Koegels, the guy that sells them in front of Home Depot (not sure if he's doing it anymore) has some decent dogs and some pretty good Coney sauce (essentially a chili sauce) on them.

I like mine simmered and then grilled. Put in a toasted, New England style bun with yellow mustard and home made relish.

Best Hot Dogs in TV.

Not sure, but a lot seem to be draged round TV on leashes during the heat of the day.

Lets compromise get rid of the relish and pile on the sauerkraut.

Man 'O Man do I wish we could. Maybe one day Stu. Anybody from N.Y. is welcome.

My wife cooks some doggies from Sams and the potato Bread and mustard from the Polish store in Leesburg and it's Heaven On Earth. I just gained 5 Lbs thinking about it!!

Neighbor is up north for a few months. She's bringing me back fresh (meaning - not even dead yet) Maine lobster off her in-law's lobster boat, and a pack of Hummel's all-beef skinless hotdogs. I'm not even sure which I'm looking forward to more, at this point: real lobster or real hotdogs. I think the only thing that could top this would be if she brought me a medium white clam pizza from the Modern.

There is no hot dog but nathans in Coney Island.

If you're from western Massachusetts, THIS is a hot dog.
