Yesterday was the 100th year anniversary of The Suffrage Movement. Not one comment about it? And yes, I'm also at fault. But I can now vote on that.

What about September 22, the date Lincoln free the slaves?

I have never heard of that date being celebrated, have you? Maybe we have moved on, wait let me think about that...

was jan 1 1863 that is the day they were freed , yes September 22 he signed it but the important day was the day of speech where it went into effect , some states are setting up a holiday hopefully the whole country one day will celebrate this day Sept 22?would be okay

It should have been done many, many years ago, but I'm not going to hold my breath given today's attitudes by so many on other similar issues. Just the fact that it's only been 100 years since women have had the right to vote, is a travesty in itself and something of which we should all be ashamed. It also speaks to a national conscience, since our founding, of treating women and minorities as second class citizens. Yet, it seems like a lot of old white guys these days would love it, if the travesties of yore were still in effect in our country. I personally just don't get it.

Since none of us were around 100 years ago why should we be ashamed that it took so long for women to be allowed to vote? Not saying it was right just that it had nothing to do with the people alive today.

And I think a lot of us old white guys were here making a joke.

National shame. I think most American citizens are proud that we helped win WW1, yet none of us were around then either. Why shouldn't it work both ways?

President Trump did celebrate the day by issuing a full pardon to Susan B Anthony.

A publicity stunt.

While Anthony successfully lobbied President Grant to pardon the three male inspectors who were also prosecuted and fined, she never asked for or wanted one for herself.

Who are the "old white guys" who don't want women's rights?

I think it is wiser not to celebrate getting them and begin using women's rights to find and keep jobs that give power and to use that power to show you aren't just a sissy girl.

When a woman whines about inequality, she usually doesn't want to talk about choosing Art History for a major.

I have either had the good luck to avoid having men in my life who looked down on women, or I made deliberate choices. My female ancestors were strong women of their time and were encouraged and supported by the men in their lives.

I realize that you want to celebrate women getting the vote. Of course they did. They should and they did. They/we have it.

Get what? Isn't it about time that folks get over living in the past and get on with the future? Tired of hearing about how this GREAT country is so bad and should be "ashamed" for something that happened a hundred or more years ago. Sorry, but I wasn't alive then and do not take credit or blame for a record or history that I had no influence in whatsoever. I do NOT feel ashamed of my country. I am proud of my country and proud (not ashamed) that I had the privilege to serve it.

Time for folks to be proud of what we have become, NOT ASHAMED of what we might have been or what some folks perceive of our past. EVERY country in the world has a past history with blemishes. WE just happen to have improved ours and made our country GREAT and the best in the world.

Why do you think it is a travesty? Do you realize that 100 years from today, your present standards may be considered disgusting, if they follow your logic? As an atheist, I believe that NO ONE that ever existed in the history of the human race, is or was perfect. If I was religious, than maybe 1 or 2 individuals.

Yes. I celebrated that as I read it. Susan B Anthony should’ve been pardoned for her deeds years ago.
I was amazed to learn that never happened in over 100 years. Now that is a lot of short sighted government people that never ever pardoned her. After all women didn’t get the right to vote until after the blacks got their rights.
