Medicare Supplement Plan
Greetings-
Both my wife and I are currently shopping for Medicare Supplement plans as we are both approaching 65. We are interested in any personal opinions from which Medicare Supplement Plans you guys suggest. We are both interested in applying for the original Medicare plan with the best supplemental plan and not interested in an HMO. Premiums cost are not really important as long as the plan is good and covers all medical needs with minimal out of pocket expenses. Thanks for your time.:bigbow: |
We went with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Plan F, has paid for everything except for a 35 dollar test when my wife had her cataract surgery. Very happy with it. Plan F is going away this year from what I have read, Plan G is a close 2nd from reading. Good luck.

Health Insurance - Medicare - Blue Cross-Blue Shield - The Villages - Mid-Florida Agencies If you want to contact her: 11962 County Road 101, Suite 303 The Villages, FL 32162 Palm Ridge Plaza Golf cart accessible Phone: (352) 259-0666 There are so many options and she helps me to get optimal coverage. |
I guess they are all about the same but if you want The Villages Health and a primary care physician you will need to go with UHC or one of the AARP advantage plans. Research online and you will get all the help you need LOL

Blue cross F plan, covers 99.9% of everything and no need for referrals to specialists, make your own appointments with whomever and wherever you want. It is rather expensive but well worth it when the need arises. The hard part is finding primary care doctors down here that will accept it, however most if not all of the specialists do accept it.

AARP United Health Care plans, one F and one N. Florida SHINE (do a Google search) Senior Health Information Network (I think) will provide a lot of unbiased information. They have local (in the villages) meetings normally, but I think these were suspended. The website will provide up to date info and a toll free number to call. We had to drop ADVANTAGE plans due to problems with existing doctors not accepting that insurance.

I recommend that you watch this video for an excellent explanation of 2021 medicare supplement plans. Best Medicare Supplement Plans (2021) - YouTube There are also several more videos covering 2021 medicare supplement plans. My personal advice: By law, everybody's Plan G is the same. Everybody's Plan N is the same. Everybody's Plan etc. Once you decide which plan fits you best, you are shopping for low premium and high service. In by opinion, a medicare supplement sold by AARP from United Healthcare is the way to go. Finally, an observation: Many people don't understand the difference between a medicare supplement plan and a medicare advantage plan. Some don't even know which one they have. Be very careful as you listen to advice and opinions -- even from me. |

Another vote for AARP Plan F. Your choice of any Dr, specialist, (no recommendation /pre approval required), Hospital, Every Dr visit, Hospital visit covered no co pay.
But , Not Cheap, RX, Dental required separate. No golden sneaker? or hearing aid coverage. I do keep thinking about cheaper insurance and the extras that they seem to provide but I've been getting my moneys worth from Plan F (Not sure if thats good or bad) and love the flexibility of Dr/Hospitals It gives us just in case we need it. |
Plan F is no longer available for new enrollees. Plan G is the next best thing and the only difference is Plan G has a deductible of $189 per year where Plan F has no deductible. Once your deductible is paid there will be NO out of pocket cost to you. I pay $177 a month for plan G and it has been well worth the cost so far.

My husband and I have Original Medicare with the AARP UnitedHealthcare Supplement F. |
We have had AARP United Healthcare plan F for almost ten years. We have never had a hospital or other medical bill and my wife is a regular user of medical care including at least two hospitalizations a year on average. Best money I have ever spent.
