Pool bath - necessary?
 

For those that have pools, do you have a pool bath? If so, do you find that it is used often? If you don't have a pool bath, do you wish that you had one?

We are trying to decide if we should build one with our pool. We have rented pool homes in Orlando many times and never felt like we needed a bath in the pool area.

Any other do's or don'ts when building a pool?

If you will have view from pool side, consider a birdcage with 'panoramic' vertical post spacing. No need to have your view blocked by posts every six feet

If your space allows, consider a spillover spa in addition to the pool.

Solar pool heating expands your pool season.

We don't have a pool bath and have never felt the need for one.

Funny you should ask, I played Belle Glade Championship course last Friday. On the Tequesta nine, on the right of the 7th tee a home was having a pool built. Just to the right was a addition about 6' x 10' being constructed onto the house with a door to the outside. Everybody in my group asked, what is that. Since I use to live in Spring Hill and sold real estate many years ago, pool baths were fairly normal there.

It keeps you from running into the house when you're wet and getting the floors wet, and of course the air conditioning will be on since it summertime, and that gets chilly quick. It's really nothing more than a Jack and Jill but instead a 2nd bedroom it just goes to outside like this;

Pool baths also serve as an extra bathroom for overnight guests. I'd go for it; I'm glad I have one.

I’m adding one to my home right now.

We enjoy ours. We use it as a changing room, so as to not drip through the house. It also has a nice closet where we stor suits and cover ups and even some of my art equipment I use now to paint and draw in the glassed in lanai. It is good to have a third bath sometimes. It has a lovely walk in shower and we put a shower on the outside of it too, so that if we get all sweaty gardening we can cool off.

Oh! A pool bathroom! I thought you meant a bathtub beside the pool, and that was new to me. If you regularly have lots of friends over to swim or have kids and grandkids spending vacations with you and if you have the room, a bathroom with easy access to the pool is very nice for those running in and out, and it helps keep things dry. If you honestly aren’t likely to be throwing pool parties or having kids around frequently, it’s certainly much cheaper to provide extra towels. Speaking of which, it can be convenient to combine the pool bath and the laundry room. I have a lovely pool, but not enough room for a pool bath.

an outdoor shower works much better

We do not have one but wish we did especially when family is here.

Take a quick shower before going to the pool.!!

Due to the design of our home there was no logical location for a pool bath that would service the home as well. We had an outdoor shower installed and a privacy enclosure around it that doubles as a changing area. Our home has tile floors so wet feet if someone need to use the bathroom is a minor issue. Also this option saved $$$ on the pool build that we could use on other upgrades.

We have a designer Camelia model. Our pool and birdcage are on the same wall as the master bed and bath. We put a door into the pocket toilet room. Quick in and out, not walking into whole house. Nice, easy and now people actually use it. Some folks came over for hours and never left the pool. Yuck!

Wow, awesome home design. Is that model built in TV’s somewhere? Just curious, we are looking at lots now.
