Covid-19 Vaccine age requirement being lowered to 60 in FL

This was reported by WESH NBC Channel 2 in Orlando this afternoon:

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. —

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced on Monday that starting next week, all people age 60 and older will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.

DeSantis made the announcement during a news conference on Monday in Tallahassee.

The lowered age requirements will begin next Monday, March 15.

DeSantis said that the eligibility will be across the board, at state run sites and retail pharmacy locations.

This is in addition to the existing requirements necessary for COVID-19 vaccine, which include: K-12 teachers, law enforcement officers and firefighters 50 years of age and older, and those deemed extremely vulnerable to COVID-19 by their physician.

Theoretically, there will be enough vaccines available for everyone in the country by May. So - theoretically, I'll be vaccinated by the time I turn 60 - in May.

Other states have already moved on, To essential workers any age. So grocery, restaurant, school workers, pharmacy, delivery personnel. Florida is few steps behind, but will catch up soon.

Glad to see more and more progress in ending this

I tried to get an appt at Winn-Dixie but the old requirements are still in place even for the slots opened next week. At least, as of my last glance at it.

I turned 62 on 2-24.

I signed up on my vaccine.fl.gov under the “not yet eligible’ section when the web site first open up. I got an email to get my vaccine from GMR yesterday. I’m 61.

I received an email from the VA. They have lowered the requirement to Veterans of any age in the North Florida/ South Georgia region.
Shots are administered at American Legion Post 347.

Have you ever gone to a buffet table at the end of a meal? There's a few chicken wings with the breading fallen off, there are two or three nearly empty bottles sodas, a couple of leaves of lettuce that look like someone upchucked on.

Perhaps you've been to a store that's had a going out of business sale and today is the last day.

When the turn comes for me, that's what I'm expecting to see. heh. A couple thawed vials that expired a month ago and they ask "Wanna try it? Might still work, not gonna get anymore since this is the last shipment"

Good news , I was told the Veterans
Administration is allowing veterans over 50 to get vaccinated so I scheduled my first shot for Sunday .

macawlaw 03-09-2021 08:25 AM

Ohio lowered the age to everyone 50 and older starting this Thursday. Health care and essential workers and teachers of any age have been eligible for the vaccine for quite awhile.
