New member intro

Good day TV. I am closing on our new home April 21st in Marsh Bend, Samuel Villas. We’re currently selling our home in Colorado and heading out in a van soon. We will travel North America and be there permanently in October

1. Do you know anyone who would want to rent our home until then for a very reasonable amount. Fully furnished with a golf cart. A friend of family member? Besides the great location we will allow dogs of any size and it has a fenced back yard. We are dog lovers.
2. Does anyone recommend a home watch service that can arrange cleaning and home repairs if we have to rent short term? We are definitely going to rent ourselves as I’m not impressed with what people are saying about the property management companies in TV.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to meeting all of you.
Jim and Kim

PS. Retired USAF.
We’re very active (golf, tennis, cycling, swimming, concerts, etc.....)

Be careful on including the Golf Cart. Check with your insurer as it may not be covered for renters, especially the potential liability aspect.

So, you just bought a new house, and you are going to turn it over to strangers with dogs for the low rent off-season? It's your house, but I would think twice before doing that. And, I agree with the other poster about the golf cart. Your homeowners insurance will not provide liability coverage for you or the renter. Good luck.

Congrats on the new home. We bought 2 years ago and get down when we can but we do not rent it as I want my new home to stay new for us. Do not want to deal with any issues. Good luck.

Thank you for your service.

You got some good advise earlier in this thread.

Welcome to the Villages! Check out the Landlords of the Villages page on Facebook. Or list it on AirBnB and ****. You'll be renting off-season which is a bit harder, but you might be able to pull it off.

And thanks.

Hi Jim & Kim- WELCOME to TV!!:a040:

IRISHGIRL3US 03-30-2021 05:44 AM

Exactly when do you want to rent,?

La lamy 03-30-2021 05:47 AM

If you don't manage to rent it, I would suggest you set up for someone to check up on it often. If the AC fails in the summer you could end up with a mess of mould. And I know my home insurer required regular visits while I was away for the policy to be applicable.

diannedobies 03-30-2021 05:55 AM

I wouldn't rent it out, especially since it's the off season. Golf cart insurance won't cover renters, unless you have a separate policy.

Many require the renter have their own insurance
