Yes! our house has started getting renters for the CY 22 season! The vaccines have allowed the country to start to return to normal, though this is still a race against mother nature between reducing infections to zero to combat anticipated variant growth.

Domestic airlines will reap the first benefits. .

When they open the Canada border my guess is that rental rates will be rising rapidly and there will be more demand than available units during the winter months.

Do you think landlords will be having deep disinfectant cleanings done in between tenants or just their regular cleanings?

You are assuming that all rental are really short term. Daily, weekly and monthly are rare in TV. Most homes are rented for high season, then rarely rented after April. So home sits empty for 6-8 months. So what ever deep cleaning you are suggesting would be for what point

It's a good question. Of all the rentals in our CYV neighborhood, not one sits empty for 6-8 months.

Out of curiosity, will you be performing deep, disinfectant cleaning in between?

Surface transmission of SARS-COV2 is not something that happens. No one is getting covid from surfaces, even high-traffic surfaces like door-knobs. The last I checked, and I do check, there are two possible surface transmissions. One was a credit card machine at a pharmacy, the other could not be adequately explained by any other means of transmission.

Slathering disinfectant on everything and "deep" cleaning are not protecting you or anyone from getting Covid-19.

It's being transmitted via droplets and aerosols. Don't breathe infectious air, you're good to go.

I'm not saying that cleaning isn't helpful for flu and colds, hepatitis, etc., it is. Against covid it isn't doing anything.

I have not assumed anything! I am aware that there are shorter term rentals available in the Villages - even rentals through Airbnb! Ergo I wondered what landlords will be doing.

yes, we/they will be as required by current regulations. But requirements do change and frequently

Now that the restrictions have loosened up a bit and things are opening up the rental crowd will be returning to TV. There is a ton of interest in Florida retirement communities it seems and TV is definitely on the top of the list to check out.

So the house is now rented for Jan, FEB and MAR for next year! after paying off the mortgage, finally enough to be profitable, as this year is a lost year, and then the savings will eventually pay off the bond prior to moving down permanently in a few years!

However, now that the bridges are operational, will need to provide a golf cart for us and the renters.

You may have accepted tenants too early. If there is a rush to come down here those that still have units available later this year will command a premium for their units. I can see rates going up 10 to 15% or more, especially by those buying new homes and furnishing them as they costs have gone up dramatically this past year and may go even higher not to mention furniture made of wood. A lot of the new villas do not have a washer and dryer included and that's another expense.
