Golf Cart Tire Pressure
 

Hi - Suggestions on ""YOUR"" best golf cart tire pressure. I own a generic new Village purchased Yamaha Drive2 Quietech EFI with Road Hawk 205/65 R10 tires with a maximum sidewall tire pressure of 35. What do you guys suggest to inflate the tires for maximum comfort. Even at the villages golf cart store, three different salesmen suggested three different tire pressure. Thxs Jose

The Villages Golf Cars have filled my tires to 22psi, 23psi & 26psi.

Another endless debate. First of all some people have radial tires, the advice man be different. Reality, the pressure changes with temperature. If it is say 100 the pressure will be several pounds more than it is at say 50. Will you adjust? Most of us will not so
the answer is about that much. I shoot for 22 lbs. Aside, I pump them up with my hand bicycle pump. I do have an electric compressor. By the time I take it out plug it in etc a hand pump is easier. Issue, a hand pump usually has a chuck, the part that fits the stem-where you fill the tire, that is big and designed to lock on. With the fancy wheels etc you may have trouble getting it to lock on. Simple solution, get a valve stem extender a couple of bucks for four of them. Thread it on to one wheel. Pump that tire up un-thread the extender and put it on the next tire. Takes longer to write it out than to do it.

25 PSI is the sweet spot! Give it a try.

Our Cart will be 5 years old in August of 2021. The tires are checked on the first of the month by yours truly. Three of the four tires were dry rotted on the sidewall. Four new tires at The Villages Golf Cart = $320. Worth it for safety and they checked out a few other things.

This has been discussed several times, first check your manual, if you do not have one down load one, you should find the suggested pressure of 22 psi, 35 psi is the MAX operating pressure you really do not want this pressure, there will be abnormal tire wear and a VERY rough ride.

Well, I have and opinion that’s works for me. Depends on total weight with that tire as said 22 to 26 psi. Maybe little higher on rear tires if 4 seater or you got seat weight hanging off the back? For my cart 25 PSI on rear produces the least amount of tire wear. Too high pressure and center will wear, too low pressure the outside will wear faster. And it can be very fast depending on how far out is sweet spot you are. I can look at golf carts parked and see tire wear on real tires from being over inflated or under inflated. Not much weight on frontend of golf cart so pressure may be reduce couple pounds for softer ride. I wouldn’t go below 20 PSI. Two things make golf cart last, checking tire pressure once month, check oil when gassing up. Other may disagree?

Had someone from villages golf carts say they do 26 back 24 front. Whatever makes for the best ride would seem sensible. Owners manual says 18 PSI but who knows if that with the tires we run here.

I keep mine at 30psi ! The hot temp might bring them up a few pounds! If you like to replace tires keep them low , softer ride but wear a lot faster! Your L4, L5 , and L6 will appreciate 25-30! See ya on the road!

I thank everyone for their input and I do apologize if this same question has been asked before. New to everything here and never realized I could search this site for prior answers to typical questions.

One last golf cart question. How offend does the typical person change out their golf cart oil and do you do it yourself? Seems kinda simple with a generic Amazon hand pump. Again, I have gotten different responses from different people. Thanks again.
