Do you mean the one with the little stickers stickers on them ? If so did you check BOTH outlets because (in our home) only one (bottom one) of the 2 outlets is controlled by that switch in the B/Rs. Was there a previous owner? They could have had them bypassed for whatever reason.

Yes, know that it is the bottom (or red labeled) switch, and no previous owner. Can’t figure it out!

If you are talking about the sticker on the switch mine are green. Try plugging a lamp into the outlet.
In bedroom by bed the top outlet is wired to switch the bottom outlet is hot all the time as are other outlets in bedroom.
If that doesn't work call electrician.

IMO Probably wired wrong or not right when home was built. Just like ceiling fan wiring is some.

Red light switch should control an 1/2 of an out let

Maybe they put the wrong color sticker on it? Ours is blue. If they change it to green or blue it just might work!

Might be as simple as the installer forgot to remove the internal jumper on the outlet. IF (big if) you are comfortable working around electrical equipment, TURN OFF the circuit breaker to the room. Remove the outlet and look at the terminals on the HOT side (brass) terminals. Normal outlets are supplied with a removable metal jumper between the terminals which MUST be removed for switched operation. You should find a HOT (black) wire to one side, and a second (black possibly red) wire to the other side of the outlet. If you are not interested in doing this, any one of several handymen should be able to help you.

The most likely explanation is that switch controls a wall outlet where a table lamp would be plugged in.

However, it might control a ceiling fan. In that case, you probably have the ceiling fan turned off at the fan. Turn the wall switch on and pull the chain on the fan.

Electricians don't install the lights, fans and receptacles, the contractor or builder hires anyone to do that instead of paying an electrician.

On your breaker panel, there should be a sticker for the electrician who wired your home. Yes, electricians did do the job.

Totally false. It would be illegal for the builder to have those items installed by someone other than a licensed electrician.

The outlet may be controlled by more than one switch. Make sure they're all on.

NY2TV 01-23-2022 09:31 AM

They may have put the red sticker by the wrong outlet. Try every outlet in the room. When my house was painted, painter put them back in the wrong place. I was s confused.
