Dump Trucks

Is it me or do dump trucks not only travel in packs they speed - are they paid per load in an 8 hour period?

With everyone driving like maniacs to get in front of the snowbirds..combined with seniors in camaros and vettes driving like it's 1973 again these dump truck guys take the cake.

Can we all slow up a wee bit?

I don't think dump truck drivers read this forum. You should post it on TOTDT. :D ;)

Stick on the topic is it the dump trucks or Seniors with Classic cars.

IMHO, 'playing chicken' with a dump truck, or thinking that you'll win playing 'speed patrol' is a sucker's bet....there's far too much road rage out there today...and people carrying pistols

just drive defensively, let them pass, and as Ann Landers used to say....MYOB

I drive 301 from Fenney to that new model train store in Wildwood, Nick's Trains, and am among these dump trucks both full and empty, I don't think they are speeding at all, as a matter of fact I hate getting stuck behind them as they are driving below the speed limit or just at it. They have had a couple bad accidents down here over the last year or so and my thinking is they have been told by those who tell such things to keep it at the speed limit. Oh and that new store is located at 113 N. Main St., right on 301 but it's closed on Sundays and Mondays.

is about folks who think snow birds drive slower than full time residents. WOW!

I'd be interested in how you came to any of your conclusions.

Reminds me of the dump truck in back to the future.

Lost 2 windshields in past year to gravel flying in roads.
Stay waaay back!

Slow down, you move too fast

Remember that song by Simon and Garfunkel? I think the OP has got it right. While it was already fitting back in the day, with the huge increase in traffic, cars that zip up to high speed with the touch of the pedal, and poor condition of the roads that can't handle all this traffic, we need to double down on driving safely and slowing down.

Maybe I'm just getting old, but I remember when truck drivers were the most courteous drivers on the road, and I remember the good old days when the speed limit was lowered to 55 on the highway and traffic fatalities plummeted.

Instead, today, in this time of irrationality and ignorance, speed limits have increased and road rage is on the rise.

Maybe, because there's not much we can do about the other guy, it's best to MYOB like one poster wrote. But to be safe, we need to watch out for the other guy.

**Exactly right!

thank you: YeOldeCurmudgeon

I live south of 44 where there is lots of dump truck traffic and I’ve been impressed with how courteous the drivers are. They’re always doing the speed limit on the streets and if you meet them at an intersection on the multimodal path in your golf cart they always stop and wave you through.

I agree, very professional, courteous driving by the Rainey drivers in my experience. Trucks are well maintained and quiet.

Also suspect any driver not doing so will not last long.
