Movie theaters in TV

So Rialto still being renovated, Brownwood hasn’t reopened since Covid and Old Mill playhouse (Lake Sumter Landing) is closed on Wednesdays! I don’t get it. You’re telling me that there is not enough demand for one movie theater that is open every day? Especially in the winter where cold and wet days like today limit outdoor activities. And yes I know I could drive to Leesburg but prefer something closer.

During the height of covid understood only one theatre but now with lots of movies being introduced would think at least a second would reopen.

Lots of doubts that the one in Spanish Springs will ever reopen. Plenty of threads on this on here.

Have been to the movies 3 times. Not once was the Monday $5 shows close to 1/3 full. With streaming, and less than $2 rental on current movies, why would you go. Not that it is a big deal for us but, we spend at least $30 at the theater, and they won’t pause for a potty break:ohdear: or more snacks.

Movie theaters I’m afraid going to go the way of the phone booth.

There is a new business model in the movie industry, rendering most movie theaters obsolete. New content is being produced by companies that are going the streaming route to distribute their product. This was going to happen anyways, but Covid accelerated the transformation. It would not be fiscally prudent to throw good money at renovating a dinosaur.

To get the true movie experience at home you really need a 'good' home theater setup. Do not buy cheap speakers and get at minimum a 10" subwoofer (the bigger the better).:popcorn::popcorn:

I come from North Jersey and remember when we had a huge movie theater on route 4 in Paramus. Well I went on a date with my future wife and somehow we were lucky enough to sneak into Star wars. It was a movie theater like few others cheating probably 1,000 people or more with real balconies. You can't get that experience with a home theater whether your screen is 80 in or 200 inches. And yes unfortunately they changed it into a multiplex and totally ruined it. And I think it finally became a supermarket or a car dealer 20 or 30 years later. But wow was Star wars great in a huge theater with lots of people laughing screaming and clapping for Luke and his crew

And yes there are still plenty of theaters around here thanks to AMC, epic in Leesburg Mount Dora and Claremont. AMC has reserved electric recliners and I'm so glad we have a few still operating

Movie theaters

The owners of the villages probably want to turn the theaters into expensive rental apartments

I suspect all theaters are loosing patrons.
For years before the pandemic, 99% of Hollywood productions were pure trash. The pandemic (and celebrities' lecturing response to it), turned off a large part of the final 1% of movie-goers! People who never purchased a movie on their tv before COVID, learned how easy it was and how much cheaper it was. The pandemic "broke the habit" of seeking entertainment at the brick-and-mortar theaters. Also, streaming services are offering better movies than the ones coming out of Hollywood!
Covid made people happy to watch movies at home. With Hollywood still producing garbage, I don't see how a theater survives.

Rialto will Not be a theater. The developer is doing something else with it.

There are no more $2 rentals

Warcats 01-28-2022 08:26 AM

Seems to be a top secret.
