TSA questions - Why Ask?

TSA Precheck Questions regarding gender currently only allow M or F. But apparently your choice. Either one is OK. But they plan to provide more options in the near future.
Why do they even ask if it does not matter?

The Questions

Am I required to select the gender that matches the gender on my identity documentation?

You can now select your preferred gender, even if the gender you select does not match the gender on your supporting documentation (such as birth certificate, passport, or state ID). You can select “M” or “F” which are the gender options currently available.

Is medical certification required to change the gender options for TSA PreCheck®?

Medical certification is not required to change the gender options on your TSA PreCheck® application. If you are a member of the TSA PreCheck® Application Program, you may call (855) 347-8371 weekdays, between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. ET, to request a change of your gender options in your records. You may also submit your inquiry online. Please note, updating your gender is not required to receive TSA PreCheck® screening. You will receive TSA PreCheck® screening even if your current gender differs from the gender you provided when you enrolled in TSA PreCheck®.

What does it mean that I can self-select my preferred gender during the TSA PreCheck® application process?

You can select the gender you would like in your TSA PreCheck® record by simply checking “M” or “F”. Medical certification or a physician’s letter is not required when enrolling with a gender that does not match the gender on your identification documents.

Do I need to have the gender on my birth certificate, passport and/or driver’s license changed before I can get it changed on my TSA PreCheck® application?

No, the gender on your identification documents does not need to match the gender you select on your TSA PreCheck® Application.

If I identify as neither male “M” or female “F” or I have identity documentation in a non-binary gender, can I apply with a non-binary gender options or no gender options?

You can still apply for TSA PreCheck® but you must select “M” or “F” which are the gender options currently available. TSA is in the process of adding a third gender option for non-binary, intersex, and gender non-conforming individuals but cannot provide an exact timeline for when we will begin offering a third gender options.

Political correctness gone amok

I don't understand why they want to know, but I don't care. In the overall scheme of things it is not something I will get upset over. The entire TSA thing is security theater and I think the main benefit of it is to help some people feel safe. So, it is just something I provide time to do, and do quietly, I see no reason to give them reason to slow me down.

Stick around, this country is going to get much worst.
Remember, we're all going to live long enough to see it all.

Agree. You are what your DNA says you are. Surgical reassignment is just plastic surgery to project what you want to look like. Like breast augmentation or a butt lift or a nose (or "hose" ) job. Some people want to change gender. Some even want to change their species. Fine by me. Look like you want to look. Live like you want to live. But if your DNA says you are human male, that is what you are. If you want to lie to yourself, fine. But don't cry if others won't participate in the lie. Reality is what it is and all the PC will do is perpetuate the lie and obscure truth.

If the plane goes down, you'll be identified by your DNA as there may very well not be enough left of you in one piece to ID. It really won't matter what box you checked off prior. You'll be regarded as a man or woman. I've been at a few plane crash sites involving loss of life. It ain't a pleasant scene.

No actually I'm dressed in front of my laptop on a dock. Posts are like TV channels, if you don't care for a program, find the remote. lol

Well, except there are XY females, there are 3 chromosome individuals, there are babies born with no distinguishable sexual organs at birth. If only it were so simple as just two sexes. And it is NOT just people, all throughout the animal kingdom there are things with chromosome anomalies.

Here is a short video on the history of Chromosomes, you might find it interesting:

If someone with 3 chromosomes were to be tested, what would it (the DNA test) come back as? I just did a Google search which started there's like 60 people known to have that issue. Maybe Google isn't counting all the athletes. lol

That is one of the strange things, there are "many". I included a link to a ted talk that tells the history of XY/XX and all the other things.
