Verizon 5G Home Internet Service - Great Service!

Just a note to let everyone in the area know Verizon 5G home internet is in the Villages. We went and picked up the 5G home internet at the Verizon store but you can have it mailed to your home. All equipment is free and we installed it on our Ring doorbell, Nest thermostat, and all of our computers, and devices in less than 15 minutes. It was very easy. Verizon 5G internet is an amazing service. I was shocked at how fast our internet is now moving. It is like lightning. You get 30 days to try it and we got the super fast speed for $40 a month after a $20 discount is applied each month. Your price could be lower - it is dependent on if you have a cell phone plan with Verizon and if so what plan you have. We pay $45 a month for our cell phone plan with the senior discount. So the cell phone and internet is $85 a month. We had spectrum internet which was costing us $79 a month so this is quite the savings and is much faster. I am so happy with the change. I had tried century link and it was super slow so much so that when the installer brought it he agreed to take it back because it just wasn't working well. Spectrum internet worked but didn't do well with downloads as it was slower even though we bought their higher speed. All the internet services say up to.... the top speed but most never approach what they promise to deliver. We have had Verizon now for more than a week and it is really a surprise for the better.

Do you know if the box can be relocated to a snowbird/vacation home? Or can it only be used in one location?

So is the 5G reception the equivalent of what you get on your cell phone. Like right now, my Verizon phone is showing 5G (1 bar) at my house.

It relies on how close you are to the tower for optimum service.

Looks like it is locked to a location.

Verizon 5G Home Internet and LTE Home Internet Terms of Service | Verizon

Out need to be installed line of sight to a 5G tower for optimal performance. I wouldn't try unless you get at least 3 bars on your cell phone

Does it support the major streaming apps: Hulu-live, Netflix, YouTube-TV, Prime, HBOMax, etc? I have heard of issues with Hulu-live on some providers in the past.

Anyone know what the Verizon reception is like in the Osceola Hills area?

Just for the heck of it I went online to Verizon (and T-Mobile) and put in my address (in Amelia) and they both said it wasn't available at my location. Also wasn't much of a bargain vs, Xfinity since I don't have Verizon or T-Mo cell service. I do have a Verizon MVNO but that doesn't count for the discount.

Just checked their website. 5G is not available at my address...

Coming soon.
The negative impact of Xfinity customer loss should be significant.

I am waiting for T-Moble 5G streaming to be available in our area......then I am gone (from Xfinity) at $150 less each month!!!

I'm paying less than half that for Xfinity now. Adding the streaming services more than doubles what I pay every month but you'll have those costs with whatever ISP you choose.

You may be able to rework your packages and bring the price down even while you wait for 5G internet.

Where are you located?

La lamy 05-04-2022 04:42 AM

I'm glad the 5G is working for you. I'm sure the lower cost is temporary. Just like most new services, they bait you in with a cheaper price then, up, up and away!

Location Location Location
It's fantastic ***IF*** and only IF you are located near a 5G cell tower. Most of 5G service is going in along major roadways, i.e. the turnpike, and if one of those is your closest tower, you're in luck. Here in Chitty Chatty the closest tower is still 4G.
