Why do they drain the ponds? Out walking my dog this morning and came across this on Fenney Way.

Could be fixing a pipe leading to it, everything drains in from around it.

Well we have not seen one of our neighbors for a few days

kittygilchrist 06-27-2022 04:35 PM

And the ponds are interconnected so they can move water between pounds.

Hmm, a sink hole would by its nature have drained the pond for them. And I don't know, I can't imagine that with all the interconnected systems here, that a major change like removing a pond to put in a dozen houses would be possible. Maybe.

Since I walk down to the dog park there at least once a week, I guess we will see.

I think repair is more likely, but maybe someone threw their mother-in-law into the pond...

Mention of sink hole, did you know it is legal for a developer to sell land to home builders without checking for sink holes, and one develops, the state of Florida will not intervene.

Okay, I am not sure what you are saying. I read and came here and knew all about sinkholes before buying. Sadly, at this point in this country, I would NEVER trust anyone I buy from to warn me or even to inform me. I rely on myself. If I screwed up buying here, well, it certainly won't be the first mistake I ever made. That is on me.

I do have sinkhole insurance, but not because I was afraid of sinkholes, but because it is so inexpensive it seems to not be worth it to not have it.

As far as the State "protecting me". Really? I am a bleeding heart left-wing radical liberal (ask anyone here) and I would NEVER look to the government to protect me from anything, other than foreign countries invading. When they do, good, when they don't no big deal.

Hole #8 on Longleaf is closed for a pipe repair. The pond needed to be drained so the damaged pipe could be fixed. Was told the hole should be opened soon (couple of days). The pump you see in the picture was used to transfer water from one pond to the other.

No, no, no. There are some ducks missing and the authorities suspect fowl play.
