Turbotax

Oldragbagger 12-30-2022 10:35 AM

TurboTax for the past 10+ years and no problems.

New resident meaning you have to file a state tax return in your old state? If yes then I would use who ever you used last year. The Fl person may have little or no experience with your old state. There is no Fl state return.
You can get free return software links from the IRS site. Do the Federal yourself and see how it compares to your paid return. Then think about doing it yourself in the future.

If not complex use TurboTax. Next year get quicken. Code transactions during year an transfer in TurboTax at year end. Simple

TurboTax will include a state tax return and file it for you. It will probably be a partial state return for your former state. No big deal.

Who was it that said only the little people pay taxes? No Googleing. Hint: It was a woman and she was known for being mean.

It's not a Villagers wife either!!!!!

Robert Bloom CPA. 425-941-5224

He not only does our taxes but he runs the numbers for when we start to draw on our retirement, how much of our IRA to convert to a ROTH, etc..

Taxes from your previous state should be filed with the person you have used in the past. We go to FedEx, and send them out, no issues. Our CPA also can do our Florida taxes, so will continue to use until I find someone locally.

One can file on line or use turbo tax, but a seasoned tax preparer, isn’t that expensive. Our taxes aren’t basic, so CPA is worth the money.

We use HR Block, they can handle the previous state tax as well as the current state tax and federal returns, several local offices, and year round help if necessary.

Preparers will give you an organizer and input the information into their software. Current tax software walks you through the interview process and is very good. Depends on the level of hand holding you prefer. Note audit defense is not included. TurboTax will provide for a modest cost.

An option is the Villages free tax service provided by volunteers. Sign up Jan 2 , 8am

Buy TurboTax at Staples, Office Depot or Amazon. I’ve used it for years. Very comprehensive, easy to use answering step-by-step questions and online filing.

An online option I have used in the past years is Tax Slayer, and have been quite satisfied.
