Door to door soliciting

1 Attachment(s)
Hardly a day goes by, someone doesn't show up at my door, selling tree trimming, lawn care, or something. Today is was a new roof.

Does any one here know the truth? The information out there seems contradictory.

If local law enforcement believes it is not against the law then .....

If hardly a day goes by without someone knocking at the door then contact Community Standards per the FAQ and see what they have to say.

Florida Statute 501.022 says home solicitation requires a permit. This implies to me that door-to-door solicitation is legal as long as the person has the permit. They should show you their permit automatically but you can also ask to see it.

Correct. I have read the law, but it doesn't say anything about enforcement or penalties. So, I doubt that law enforcement will do anything if you call them. In my opinion, the best way to prevent soliciting is to place a "No Soliciting" sign on the front door.

After much effort, I have made the list of you do not want to knock on that door.
Wife is polite. Our mail. All the free college, funeral etc are addressed to her.

Post a no soliciting sign at your door. This makes it wrong for them to knock on your door.

All because of the roof replacement fraud of the last few years.

Before that, it was Sink Hole fraud.

They'll be something else coming, right around the next corner.

Which is why the roof companies no longer ask you to get a new roof. That would be solicitation. But there is no prohibition on their offering you a free roof inspection, no obligation. When you say yes, then they can find a problem and offer a solution. So the work around is very simple.
