Spectrum wants to visit us

Have any of you experienced this? What should I expect?

I received email from Spectrum notifying me ...
"We've identified an issue that's likely to affect your service. While you may not be experiencing it now, a future service disruption can be avoided if you schedule an appointment today."

The only Spectrum service I use is Internet and it is working just fine. If you have had these visits:
- Why did the visit?
- What did they do?

bobeaston 10-30-2023 05:25 AM

Oh yeah, a third question:
- Are you comfortable with letting strangers into your home?

Babubhat 10-30-2023 05:25 AM

Use the app chat feature asking for specifics. Dumped them when xfinity offered 25 a month for internet service

I would contact Spectrum from a number on your monthly bill or their web site and see if they actually sent it.

RICH1 10-30-2023 07:02 AM

Scam……

Exactly.

Might be legitimate. They may need to change some equipment at the home to be compatible with a scheduled upgrade at their office. It's easy enough to contact them through a number on the monthly bill to be sure the email was actually from Spectrum.

bobeaston 10-30-2023 07:46 AM

My questions aren't about legitimacy. There's enough evidence in the emails and web pages to assure me the request is actually from Spectrum.

Read again, and you'll see my questions are about what they actually do.

contact the sheriff, and have them waiting if they show up? defiantly a scam

We got a new modem in the mail because they said the old one was obsolete

WingedFoot78 10-31-2023 05:44 AM

Call Spectrum to verify that this isn't some sort of scam. It smells a bit.

You should absolutely call them. If they have indeed identified an issue, they can tell you what that issue is and what they need to do. If they tell you that there is no issue, then this an attempt to get a salesman in your house.

Yes, call them to set up appointment. Use your bill or online account to confirm the number to call.

I'm in Marsh Bend, and yes a tech came out. Our modem was replaced, and the tech checked all the wiring in our home.

Everything is working and just might be a bit better.

Yes, it's wise to be cautious. For us, it was legit. No new charges, just good service.

TorriJ 10-31-2023 06:32 AM

We just had it. It is legit. Everything for us was working fine so I almost didn’t have them come but it turned out they had to replace my line to the street. No charge. You should give them a call for peace of mind or have 2 people in the home when they come like we did.

Why post here? Just call them and ask what they want to do. If it's a scam, you'll find that out also.
