The Villages Hospital doesn't have a camera?

From what I read in the on line news site it appears the OP got his golf cart back and they found the dirtbag who stole it. Congratulations on getting the cart back and here is hoping the lowlife thief gets put behind bars for a long time.

I am glad the golf cart was recovered, now you know why I changed the Yamaha ignition switch to a universal automotive ignition switch with 4 unique keys provided with the new switch, cost about $20, about 20 minutes to install. These are available at most automotive parts stores.

Is the wiring a quick disconnect or soldering/wire nutting? Thank you.

On a gut feeling I went for a ride at around midnight on the night it was stolen. Ended up passing the cart right across from the hospital on the car path and followed them. Caught them in Santo Domingo but they went onto the golf course and I couldn't follow in my car. The Sheriffs met me over there and ended up finding the cart about an hour later then caught the thief on Morse near Rio Grande. They did a bunch of damage to the cart but at least one of them is in jail. There was 2 guys on it when I was following them but no word on the second one. The Villager-news had a small write up with a mug shot of the suspect.

Key was in my wife's pocket, she works at the hospital.

FYI.............most golf cart keys are not unique.

Most are spade crimp lug, but I have seen a few with screw terminals. I was able to cut the existing wires just before the Yamaha connector to the original ignition switch, and make the connections to the new switch. NOTE: if you decide to do this yourself, some of the Yamaha carts have a switch with four (4) wires, I have not installed a universal switch on one of these yet, but I think it will work.

Takes less than 5 mins to change switch. Unscrew and unplug. Best bet get uncommon key switch for Yamaha and gPS tracker. Most won’t fool around trying to replace ignition switch and if they try to jab screwdriver in it the plastic will probably brake. Most see sign says GPS tracked will pass it by. Villages ready cart are 15K or more IMO GPS tracker or uncommon key cheap insurance.

Glad you got your cart back, sorry about all of the damages.

We knew earlier model keys were the same. But thinking when we picked up the 2023 Yamaha key would be improved. Especially at the price tag now. Nope 2016 Yamaha key starts 2023. Thanks Tink for advice going to have switch changed.

This is a good deterrent unless they tow it.

I have a kill switch discreetly installed.

One issue is it’s so easy to put the cart in neutral and tow it.

That's the main reason I would never do what I see others do. Meet their golf partner at a rec center parking lot away from the course and leave the cart in the lot instead of at the course where a trailer can't easily get to it.
