Question about the High School.

Just curious:
We understood kids under 19 could not live full-time in The Villages.
Why is there a high school ?
Thanks Will

There are 3, now with Middleton 4 "family friendly" villages where employees of the Villages and businesses that operate in TV can live with their families. They do not have access to the same amenities as the rest of TV. Without these, it would be even more difficult to recruit employees, especially professionals to work here. The charter schools here are among the top ranked in the nation, and the new campus rivals most small colleges.

It is a charter school system, not a public school. To qualify to attend, one parent must work for the Developer, or a business located within The Villages.

The excellent charter schools are a major factor in recruiting quality employees.

To provide education for the Villagers who did not graduate from high school.

A lot of businesses have younger adults/employees with children that are able to attend The Villages Charter schools, makes it easier to have their children close to where they work :)

They live near The Villages, not in The Villages for the reasons mentioned above. Even Middleton is outside of TV.

Middleton is owned by T V. It is its own district within T V. It does not share the amenities that the over 55 districts share. T V in the near future will have another under 55 at Coleman area as well.

I am thinking as T V creeps further and further south there will be much less over 55 and more under 55 districts. (Baby boomers are kicking the bucket so move on over to where the $$ is.)

Why have under 55 areas? To help support the local businesses. Why have charter schools? Better education with the added financial state funding $$ benefit added to local taxes. Good business strategy.

Unlike public schools, charter schools have ability to remove students whose behavior and academic progress are not acceptable.

True. A complete non-sequitur to the topic of this thread, but true.

Through various relationships with TV such as a employee at Publix that is leased from TV.
