Suggestions please, neighbor needs help

What resources will help 84 yr old man, with dog, After death of significant other dies, family wants him out by March, that will house him and dog for $500 month,

If he is eligible for Medicaid, he may be able to move into a nursing home. But, I don't know about the dog.

He cannot live without his loving dog, so sad

What neighborhood in the Villages? Or, does it matter? You might have to rely on work-of-mouth to find the man a room in some occupied house here in the Villages. I will bet some Villagers could use the $500 a month and have a spare room. What kind of dog and how friendly and does the man have any special needs? And how friendly is the man?

I doubt that you will find anything for $500 per month. The minimum SSI income is more than $900 per month.

I was thinking more in the line of a Villages couple who could use the money and had a room empty,

Talk of the Villages might be a wonderful resource for getting the word out. So long as there are not any warning signs about the man or the dog.

For instance, I have home health care people coming in and always try to stick around for the first shift of any new person to see what they are like. As life is often like a box of chocolates so can be people you let into your house.

His own family wants him gone?

Something is missing in the story.

Probably why I put in a reference to Forrest Gump - Wikipedia and the box of chocolates.

Sorry, I don't get the connection.

Have you checked the room rates on Airbnb.com for The Villages? $16 per day is not even close.

A significant other may not be considered part of the man's family.

Agree, something is missing from this story. If he is really being put out on the street or made to leave the house (if it is his) he needs an elder law attorney.

You never know what kind of chocolate you are going to get in a mixed box of chocolates unless it is labelled.

Going to a lawyer usually ups the tension in the relationship.

We should get more information.

This might just be a kind man and a gentle dog that need a place to stay. I would think that Talk of the Villages would be a good resource for that.
