Golf Cart Enclosures
 

We completed a weeks life style visit and naturally, it rained EVERY morning or afternoon & we got caught in a pretty severe storm while out in the cart. The roll down sides worked ok, just not convenient for the frequency of the rain and certainly not good for that storm. SO............

What is the downside to hard doors like Curtis Cab. Looks like the doors just slide or swing out of the way when not using. Seems pretty convenient. Are they noisy ? Do they bang around when not using . Do they prohibit airflow when not in use ? With 10s of thousands of Golf Carts in the villages, why don't we see more of these hard sided enclosures.

The open air golf carts, with the drop down sunbrella fabric are by far the most popular typ of enclosure. Because its rains quickly, then stops - and you can go right back to open air golf carts.
If you’re going to enclose the golf cart, get a small car.

Totally agree, although the carts with a hard enclosure seem to come out of nowhere in numbers on colder winter days, when I might consider flipping up the windshield on the Yamaha. The open air experience is a major factor that differentiates a golf cart from a car. Everyone’s tastes are different, but I would never want one of those golf carts that you have to look at very closely to tell it apart from one of those misnamed smart cars.

I recently saw a used cart for sale that had the hard shell cab accessory and they said it was a $4k add on. As Papa said most popular are the open air for a reason. You said you were in bad storms so a cart is probably not ideal for your needs or just plan ahead and avoid the most severe rain. Might budget for two carts when you finally get here. I have seen as many as four carts in some garages.

I have had the Curtis Cab doors for a couple of years and they are fabulous. As for air flow, with the window down and the doors open it’s about the same as the soft sided carts - we have one of those too. Yes it’s a $ 4,000 add on but for me it’s worth every cent. The new ones, like mine, can also be locked. The only downside is that the structure that comes with the doors does create blind spots but you very quickly learn the appropriate head bob to see around them.

I had a curtis cab for Dad and Mom several years ago. Mom wanted quiet so this was on a battery cart. Sorry to say but the rattling noise was too much for her. It also has a bar that that you have to go around to get to the seat. It is nice to open and close easily and quick.

my wife's cart is enclosed and mine is not. She loves it and I hate it. We do use hers (very) occasionally when it's extremely cold or raining hard and forecast to remain. That is perhaps 4 or 5 times a year. Each to their own.

I had a chance to drive one of these a few years ago, and I would never get one. The main reason is the limited visibility on the side mirrors. The passenger side mirror was practically useless, and the drivers side was not much better, and this was with the sides open.

If you play golf, those doors can be a real pain after a while.

Curtis cab inclosures are very hot inside. Like being in a oven. They block the breeze you get when riding the cart. I don't like that closed in feeling either. After your here a while you won't get caught in the rain that much. A good weather app on your phone will help you avoid those storms.

We have hard sides on our golf cart and absolutely positively Love them and would never go back to the soft side blow up and roll down curtains. The hard sides are so convenient when it rains quickly and just close the door if it's too cold you just close the door no fuss no muss. Are they too hot I don't think so do they block vision. I don't think so are they an issue getting in and out for golf I got a easy go cart and as far as I'm concerning perfect. By the way we also have a card with you soft sides and never use it. The hard sides coming Curtis cab in the ones that slide back and forth those are the ones that that we have I forgot their name is. Perhaps stealing downside is that there is a tendency to open or close when you don't want them traveling and you have to open your course and again but the convenience far don't waste any convenience oh by the way I don't think they're noisy.

Love the Curtis Cab on my cart. The only times I close the doors is when it rains. It never gets hot with the doors open. It's just like a cart with no doors. As for rattling, there is a hook on the back of the doors to prevent rattling. Try one out and see for yourself.

I'll never do it again. I banged my head, my elbows, my hips, my knees, pretty much every time if got in or out of the cart. It was hot and stuffy riding in the cart...

Did I mention I hated it?
