My husband may need a couple of stitches

He cut his finger...he is a veteran, and we have Florida United Health Care...where should we go? thank you!

retiredguy123 11-15-2024 06:15 PM

I would go to the closest urgent care location.

Urgent care

If it’s a clean cut just hit it with some crazy glue, it works great.

There is an 800 number on your card. Call them and ask what facility is in network if you have not looked at your options.
A lesson for everyone, figure out what urgent care/hospitals are available to you before you need them.

Being a veteran does not impact your choices unless you want to find a VA facility.

If it’s zagged cut they probably use “medical” Super glue and want give tetanus shot. Which when I had one was more painful than cut. That what did to me when I about cut end off my little finger.

if he is current with VA healthcare, he could choose to go to an urgent care in the VA network. It is good to find those network urgents before you need one.

You've been here 11 years and don't know where to go for stitches? I'm confused.

I've been here only a couple of years...I joined this community prior to moving here.

Yes!

Depending on where you live, there is an ER on 44 by Meggison and on 466a west of Buena Vista. And, of course, there’s The Villages Hospital.

It’s been 2 days……..🤷🏼

I would hope that the LAST THING I would do if my spouse cut their finger, is sit down and ask TOTV what to do....

Exactly what I do, except I also close it up with some tension bandages from Dollar General (they sell the Rexall brand of medical supplied). Here's a couple examples of what will work (even without the super glue sometimes):

WallyMart
